Holloway Gone

I tend to judge whether a manager is decent or not by the players he buys and subsequently either sells or develops.

Mike Newell has brought a few good players that have proved themselves in this division, and he has sold at least one player that must have made Luton a tidy profit.

Ian Holloway has not done this I think. Apart from Shittu I don't think there is anyone in the QPR side who I would like to have at Leicester.

So, rightly or wrongly, my assessment of potential candidates says that Holloway is a turd not worthy of the Leicester job, and that Mike Newell is the saviour in waiting.

Manager Holloway suspended by QPR
Queens Park Rangers have suspended manager Ian Holloway and placed coach Gary Waddock in temporary charge, BBC Sport understands.
Holloway has been placed on "gardening leave" by chairman Gianni Paladini after a series of bad results and behind-the-scenes problems.

Rangers have slumped to 15th in the Championship table and Holloway has faced mounting criticism from fans.

Holloway has been linked with the vacant manager's post at Leicester.

But he was told by Paladini on Sunday night that he was being relieved of his duties at Loftus Road whether or not he lands the Foxes job.

Cash-strapped Rangers cannot afford the pay-off it would take to sack the ex-Bristol Rovers chief, who signed an improved contract last year.

And with Holloway facing competition for the Leicester job from caretaker boss Rob Kelly and Luton's Mike Newell, the west London club have suspended him on full pay along with coaches Tim Breacker and Gary Penrice.

I'm glad to hear he's been sacked. That just confirms my knowledge that he is not coming here. Why sack a manager when, if reports are true, you can get compensation for him from his new club if you wait a couple of days. Don't make sense, QPR cannot afford to lose out on any cash inputs let alone pay him off themselves for sacking him.

We need to post this thread to Uncle Tim.

Reported slightly differently on the QPR official site.

QPR have announced that Ian Holloway has been placed on 'gardening leave.'

Gary Waddock has been appointed as caretaker manager and will be taking first team training as of today.

Waddock is currently being consulted about a potential caretaker assistant manager to join him in the next few days.

The move follows speculation about Holloway joining Leicester City as their new manager.

The club is keen to avoid any distraction to the playing side and to move forward with the rest of the season as speedily as possible.

It has therefore put Ian Holloway and his managerial staff, Gary Penrice and Tim Breacker, on gardening leave with immediate effect.

Gary Waddock started at work on Monday morning in training with the players and in preparation for next Saturday's derby game against Millwall.

Gianni Paladini said: "QPR has not sacked Ian, but we are concerned about recent performances and the effect the speculation about Ian joining Leicester City might have on the players.

"I hope we can sort something out with Ian as soon as possible. QPR will always be enormously grateful for the contribution he has made over the past five years, in particular gaining promotion for us in 2004.

"However, it is crucial the team are focussed and able to move forward, which is why we have appointed Gary as Caretaker Manager. I hope the fans will get behind Gary for the home derby against Millwall on Saturday."

shit not good news for city, i don't like the sound of this:mad:

He hasn't been sacked. If we want him we would still have to pay some cash.

I can't.

The last 2 and a half years have been awful, i've become use to expecting the worst.

Will people please read Bocadillo's TD email thread. He isn't coming here!!

as much as i would hate it to happen, its not as if the chief exec is going to tell fans via e-mail who will be/ not be our next manager before going through the press. i hope im wrong and tim was being honest, but if he was comin would you of expected an email saying there will be a press conference at midday on monday?

Thanks for pointing back to it, Durham. I was much too modest to do so.

QPR have wanted rid of Holloway for some time now. They are desperately trying to find some way of doing it at no cost to them.

There are 2 standard responses here..

Boc asks 'is he coming here'?

If he isn't TD says 'dont believe what you read in the press'

If he is TD says 'we will do what is best for the club'

This reply "Dont believe what you read in the press" does not preclude anything.  :icon_conf :icon_conf
