Loads of good players in that side. Lots of international experience too. Still don’t really understand why people think it can’t compete for the European places.

‘cos they watched them last season :102:

Sort the set pieces out and I see no reason this side can’t do well in the Prem.
We weren’t able to sort them out throughout the whole of last season. What makes you think we’ll be able to sort them now?

Brendan said there was no time last season. Perhaps now he's realised he has an amazing training facility with plenty of time to actually use the thing.

Probably not though and we'll be crap at defending set pieces again but one can live in hope.

Less matches, more time to train/organise, a preseason to reset, less injuries (one hopes).

We could still be shit at them, of course…but he’s had a proper opportunity to sort it. Time will tell.

But being able to train to defend set pieces might rely on someone else delivering a decent set piece into the box...

Albeit in a friendly, what yesterday reminded me of is the fact that Maddison is an exceptional player. I have to say Soumare also looked like he could play football yesterday which is a major step up from what we have seen before from him. Just in time for his Monaco move.... coincidence?

If he's nailed on going Monaco why would we risk him against Hull?

We'd be mad to sell Soumare for a poxy £15 million on that showing. He is going to be a hell of a player for some team and a full French international. Let's hope it's for us.
One. One decent half of football. Literally one.

**** me pink.

I've got to agree I think it'd be a mistake to sell Soumare at this point. To me he seems like a player with great ability whos not quite come to grips with the pace of the Premier League. In an ideal world for me we'll be able to offload the non-committal Tielemans, keep Praet as his ready made replacement and keep Soumare around to continue his development. Though if the rumours are true and he just doesnt like living over here then I suspect that will play a large part in any move if a fair offer comes in. Certainly wouldnt sell for any less than we paid...

I've no idea what the player himself might want, but if he's not desperate to return to France I'd be happy to keep him - there is a footballer in there and maybe the summer break has helped him adjust a little

When we finished just outside the European places despite a bloated schedule, and an at times catastrophic injury list.

That and having a fully fit squad from the 1st game
