New 3 year deal

From OS

Good morning,

I can confirm today that Iain Hume has signed a new three-year contract.

Iain is a player who I have got a lot of respect for.

I think it is fair to say that I have never really liked him. We used to play against him when he was at Tranmere and I never really liked him because he was always good, if that makes sense.

He was too busy for my liking. He was a thorn in my side and I did, and have done in the past, taken an immediate dislike to him.

But I am delighted that he has commited to us for the next three years. I got the deal agreed last week while I was on holiday and it has been signed.

He has now gone away with Canada. I am looking forward to working with him.

Chairman Hails Hume Decision

Leicester City striker Iain Hume today committed his future to the Foxes by signing a new three-year deal with the club.

Hume, who joined City from Tranmere in August 2005, has proved to be a big hit with Leicester supporters since making the move to the Walkers Stadium.

The 23-year-old striker hit 14 goals for the Foxes last season - making him the club's top scorer for that campaign.

Known for his hard work and never say die attitude on the pitch, Hume's new contract ties him to the Foxes until at least the end of the 2009-10 campaign.

City chairman Milan Mandaric said: "I am thoroughly delighted that Iain has pledged his future to us for the next three seasons.

"In the short time that I have been involved with the club he has been one of our outstanding performers.

"I hope our supporters will be equally happy with this news."

Hume, who is currently away on international duty with the Canadian national side, has made 73 starts for the Foxes since moving from Prenton Park, scoring on 23 occasions.

The new deal comes in the same week that City announced the signing of former AC Milan and Bolton defender Bruno N'Gotty and Danish goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen.

I wonder if MA actually writes these articles....
i think he must tell the actual writter what he wants written i cant see MA sitting behind his laptop writting messages on OS, he is too busy browsing Talkingballs.co.uk ;)

Not looked myself, but Boc says he did the same at MK Dons.

he also left them a farewell message on their OS after he joined us which was a nice thing to do.. first manager I've heard of who would do that.

Aw, that's great news. First bit of news that has made me smile for ages.

So it's a new contract rather than a contract extention - so he must have had his wages raised. Good for him. :)
