...then this surely proves that neil warnock is a arrogant twat

Leicester Mercury said:
Blades boss Neil Warnock hit back at Levein's claims that the referee had made a mistake.
He said: "I thought it was a certain penalty. The ref was in a great position and I think it's an absolute certain penalty - the same as the first one.
"We only had one penalty last year and now we've got two in a game. We probably wouldn't have got those last year because I don't think we had enough pace about us. But anybody who has seen it on television and says to me it's not a penalty is misplaced.

I was sit with the home fans as a guest of my uncle and we were sit just to the side of Cl's dug out. Warnock was unbelievable! He berated everyone of his players, swearing at them like you wouldn't believe, whearas CL was giving his players words of encouragement in a mild mannered way.

The icing on the cake was when Paddy Kenny ran to the half way line right near the end to tell Warnock to f*** off! Absolutely hilarious!

Warnock is indeed a twat.

What does having pace have to do with getting those 2 penalty decisions today?

The first one was a penalty. The second one wasn't. Nothing to do with having pace in the side. Twat.

Colin W a n k e r - what a Warnock, what a Warnock!

sorry to say, but first one a definate penalty. Very clumsy keeping. And I have seen ref's give penalties for less for the second. In the slow mo' replays the ball did strike him on the upper arm, and by the laws that is a penalty. very harsh though.

For a penalty does it not have to be intentional hand ball rather than accidental?

Law 12. ;)

Law XII states that is illegal if a player "handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area)"

I reckon there is a fine line there. For example you unintentially handle the ball on the goal line and prevent a certain goal. So surely that would be a penalty and a sending off. Also if a winger was crossing the ball and the defender was sliding in to make a block and he's inside the area and the ball strikes his arm, it may be unintentional but its preventing a possible goal scoring opportunity.

Must admit these sorts of things are difficult for referee's to give a decision. But ive always thought that hand ball is hand ball no matter which way you look at it and a free kick or penalty should be given.

There is a clear difference between handball and ball to hand. However it is not always that clear in the split second decision that a referee has to make. This is the time when IMO video refs would not be a bad thing as the game comes to a stop anyway.
To show where the ball actually hit however intentiality ( a made up word I think but you get the meaning) would still be difficult to prove. Unless we can also porbe the players brain and read his thoughts. No theres an idea
Back to the main title of the thread, I dont think there ever was any doubt.;)

the only problem with that is most aspects of football arn't as clear cut as in cricket for example where fourth officials usev video evidence to good affect, if you showed the handball for the second penalty do you think they would all agree?:102: would be a very good idea for offsides though:038:

No i dont think they would agree. We had at least ten fans sitting together in the pub and we didnt agree. As I said the intention to handball as Rule 12 (thank you Steven) points out it has to be intentially done and that is nigh on impossible to prove. I dont believe that Nils was intentionally putting his arm there I believe it was a misjudgement when trying to chest it. Even pro footballers are Human and they make mistakes.

i know you were with 10 fans who all disagreed because i was with you, i dont think he intentionally handballed but i know for a fact that if Nissa had been wearing a red and white shirt i'd have been shouting for a penalty
