i watched the game with Lee (fcukcov) in the pub and we have a couple of bets on the prediction league and joe fox's dream team

Ah. ;)

G F P has been a long time reader and failed to tell me he was gonna start speaking. So we have been discussing yesterdays game after we bascially sat together.

im not sure i'd have taken any of those bets

yeh but it keeps him quiet. ;)

fair one, i'd still rather just ignore him and keep the thirty quid

Its not easy. Espcially as the ones on both games I cant actually remember making. Apparanty I was at least 15 sheets to the wind at the time.

i dont think anybody else is on line, its an unwritten rule of drinking that anything agreed to whilst leathered doesn't count and infact didn't actually happen

I reckon there is a fine line there. For example you unintentially handle the ball on the goal line and prevent a certain goal. So surely that would be a penalty and a sending off. Also if a winger was crossing the ball and the defender was sliding in to make a block and he's inside the area and the ball strikes his arm, it may be unintentional but its preventing a possible goal scoring opportunity.

Must admit these sorts of things are difficult for referee's to give a decision. But ive always thought that hand ball is hand ball no matter which way you look at it and a free kick or penalty should be given.

But in this case the ball bounced up and hit Nissa on the shoulder which I'm not sure he could have avoided which is hence unintentional and therfore not a penalty

I've been to referee school (just sunday league stuff, but the rules are the same :-) They really go on about it all the time, it's called using a bit of common sense.

You do have to be a bit harsher in the penalty area with regard to accidental handball, which this was at worst, but the refere should have asked this question- Have Sheffield United been disadvantaged by what just happened?

The fact is that the Blades drew just of much an advantage from the ball bouncing randomly off Nissa's shoulder as if they had done had it bounced randomly off the ground next to Nissa's shoulder- so no penalty.

If Nissa's shoulder was judged to be a handball by the referee and it stopped the ball going into the net or to a SU striker, then yes penalty, but that's not what happened was it?

From where he was standing I was very surprised that the Ref was in the position to judge if it was Handball or not.

Highland, it went like this:

(referee's mind)

Wow, I'm refereeing the first game of the new season, it's on Sky and the cameras are not on me! I know, I'll get them on me and get the crowd to cheer me by giving the home side a penalty. Now all I need is an incident in the box, oh, was that one? ah, **** it, good enough for me - PENALTY! blow you whistle! Cor! all this attention is making me feel brilliant! LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!

(Joe_Fox's mind)

Ref, you are a c unt.

You wouldn't want to know Steve - she's a filthy minx.

What really pisses me off with that w a n k e r warnock is if that penalty had been given against Sheff Utd he would have gone absolutely barmy and yet he stands there after the game slagging Levein for daring to question the decision, he really has a problem with us as a club, ever since we "cheated" our way out of administration.

Has to be the most hateful cvnt in football..........alledgedly.
