Leicester City 2 Fulham 2: Cadamarteri and Mandaric offer glimpse of future

Milan Mandaric hopes to have his takeover of Leicester City completed within 10 days, giving his manager time to strengthen his squad before the close of the transfer window. The former Portsmouth owner left his holiday base in Hawaii to watch the club draw 2-2 with Fulham in the FA Cup on Saturday, and wants to be in charge by the time the replay comes round next week.
"It's a little bit frustrating because it takes so much time," he said. "But we have to live with the rules and regulations and when you have a public company such as this it takes time to organise it and make it happen. Time is of the essence - it's the month of January. If we have got to make any improvements we have to do it this month. I'm very hopeful. I have tremendous respect for everyone involved. They are good people here who are giving support to my coming to the club, so that makes you feel good."
Whether those good people include Rob Kelly remains to be seen, with rumours abounding that Mandaric could replace the manager with Iain Dowie. He has been without a job since leaving Charlton in November and is thought to have turned down an offer from Hull because he believed something bigger was in the offing.
A 17-hour flight from the Pacific sun to the Leicester rain might have left Mandaric "struggling", but at least he saw a Cup tie worthy of the name as Leicester twice came from behind thanks to Danny Cadamarteri. It is a long time now since pundits wondered whether he or Michael Owen would emerge from Merseyside to lead England's attack in the early 21st century but at 27, after serving a six-month drugs ban, the former Everton forward insists he is ready to make good on his talent.
He was on the field for 14 minutes, but few who were there will forget his second appearance for Leicester. It was from his cross that Patrick Kisnorbo cancelled out Brian McBride's opener, and then, after Moritz Volz had restored Fulham's lead, he had the class and calmness to stroke an injury-time equaliser from Levi Porter's cut-back.
"I would be the first to admit that I haven't fulfilled my potential," Cadamarteri said. "It has been a hard time, but I've been fortunate enough to have good people around me to keep me strong. I was going out on my mountain bike at six o'clock in the morning and going in the pool and doing bits of running. I'm still quite young and I have the opportunity at a club like this to progress and do well."
Goals: McBride (69) 0-1; Kisnorbo (80) 1-1; Volz (84) 1-2; Cadamarteri (90) 2-2.
Leicester City (4-4-2): Henderson; McAuley, McCarthy, Kisnorbo, Maybury; Hughes, Williams, Tiatto (Wesolowski, 76), Porter; Hume (Cadamarteri, 76), Fryatt. Substitutes not used: Logan (gk), Dodds, Stearman.
Fulham (4-4-2): Lastuvka; Rosenior, Pearce (Zakuani, 66), Bocanegra, Omozusi; Routledge, Brown, Volz, Radzinski; Helguson (Montella, 71), McBride. Substitutes not used: Warner (gk), Runstrom, John.
Referee: M Clattenburg (Durham).
Booked: Leicester Williams. Fulham Bocanegra.
Man of the match: Cadamarteri.
Attendance: Pathetic - 15,499.
