Jacob Blyth has joined Northampton on a one month loan.

"We watch a lot of football at all levels and Jacob is a player I have tracked for a few years," said Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd.

"I think he will come in and do us a good turn. He is a good finisher, as his record at non-league level and in Leicester's Development Squad has proved. He is good in the air, he can hold the ball up and he is keen to do well.

"All round he is a good footballer and I am pleased we have been able to bring him in."

Scored on his debut.

Scored on his debut.

Looked very adept and formed an instant understanding up front, played midfielders in well and was on the same wave-length as O'Donovan. Goal was the result of a cracking bit of team play finished well.

Instantly labelled the new Stevie Howard by Radio Northampton...which may not be quite what most here would like to read.

Depends which version of Steve Howard he is. If he's the good one who scored goals and won headers, then great. If he's the one who no longer had any ability so resorted to elbowing people in the face, punching the pitch and calling the linesman a ginger ****, then no ta.

I watched Josh Low play for Bath City last season once, he was awful, amazing really how that fall happened.

Bloke on SSN said he took it like the proper forward, came across his man and finished it well.

Maybe we should swap him with Wood ;)

Good header, darted across the six yard box and a out jumped the 'keeper.

Sounds like he's doing well;

Meanwhile, striker Jacob Blyth has extended his loan from Leicester City until 2 November.

The 21-year-old has scored two goals in four starts for the Cobblers so far.

Manager Aidy Boothroyd told BBC Radio Northampton: "He's proved his worth. He could've had five or six goals.

"He's honest, he wants to run around and he's brave. We've got to start providing him, Clive Platt and Roy O'Donovan with the ammunition to score some goals."

wonder if they'll try and get Tom Hopper in as a replacement, shame for the lad sounds like he was well thought of there and doing really well
