Yeah, but has he got a personalized number plate like Ben Marshall had?

Apparently in consideration for a call-up to Southgate's England squad to be announced this week.

I'm sure he'll be in the England squad soon. He'll be able to watch the England team play from a privileged seat, on the bench.

If he's good enough, he's got it quick enough.

Who would you pick as a playmaker ahead of him?

I have to say, he looks full of potential but had his most ineffective game for us on Saturday. I think its possible he'll play for England, but its far too soon at the moment.

For England, frankly I don’t care.

This amount of exposure having made the leap in divisions is dangerous for him I believe.

Getting picked for England means **** all

Proper shame really

Chilwell should be in the england squad moving forward. Combination of lack of options, good fit for system and at the right experience level.

He’s not the finished article, but so what?

Nobody. We don't have anyone ready and/or good enough.

Picking Maddison or someone like Foden would do more harm (to them) than good.

If I had to pick one, I'd select Barkley.
There’s so much in that post that’s true and yet in practice it feels like the opposite that will happen.

I don't mean to sound churlish, but an England friendly against Switzerland at the King Power in September is probably closer to Championship level standard than even the most plodding City performance of the second half of last season. I'd sling Chilwell, Gray and Maddison in to see how they perform, and boost ticket sales at the same time.

I think it's too early for Maddison to get a call up as well, but then Foden and the lad at Dortmund whose name I forget are also in contention so Southgate is clearly looking to blood some of the youngsters into the squad.

I can see the logic in it, get them involved early, see how they fit the system, etc. In 2 years time at the Euros they're players you'd hope to see involved in the squad, so bringing them in for meaningless friendlies now doesn't seem a bad idea.

I'd prefer that to players like Welbeck or Defoe being in the squad for example. Players who aren't going to be involved in 2 years time and are there to purely make up the numbers.

Foden the Manchester City player who’s played eighteen seconds of senior football in his entire life? Is this the one we’re on about?
