Options for some players, stay don't play pick up your pay and prove what everyone suspects, came for the money not the shirt, or leave cut in money but a chance of regular football somewhere else

HAHAHAHA!!!!!111!!!! Do you seriously think that there is any player, playing professionally for any team in the Football League, that is playing for "the shirt"? In fact, make that any professional player in Europe. Cop the **** on man, every last one of them is playing wherever they are for the contract that they were offered.

if you were 25 grand plus add-ons a week which would you choose?

Would I give up getting 25 grand a week plus add-ons? Like **** would I, neither would you.

I'm pretty sure there are a few players out there playing for the shirt.

Not many but they do exist.

They do not exist Kingy. I'm sure that you'd like to think that they do, but you can not name a single player from any club. That's because they don't exist. It's just idealised nonsense.

Don't forget that the figure is a) reported, and so probably not even close to the actual figure and b) will be made up of a host of target driven payments; even more so with a lower league player.

If he scores 20 goals and gets us promoted and so we have to pay 1m then it's worth it.

There are loads of players playing for the shirt, the problem is they are mostly sunday league players, as soon as money comes into sport you end up with young men (and women) trying to make enough money to retire at 35.

You can't really blame them either, you're a long time retired in this game. Your average, lower league footballer has got to take the best money he can, while he can still get it. The money being paid to some players in the top flight is just obscene though.

Although players go to work for money, like the rest of us, I believe a small percentage will ALSO form an emotional attachment to a club or even want to move to another club because they want to win trophies. Nobody is going to play for a club for free just because they have some emotional attachment though!

No, no - it was Sven that did that, not our Nige. Do try and keep up
We are trying to keep up. You had 2 weeks head start though. Seems every time we get interested in a player, you buy them though.
It's like playing Monopoly against someone who buys everything they land on and then next roll you land on that same property. We'll end up with the Utilities and Old Kent Road. Bastards.

It's not any of the players fault that they were offered (reportedly) high wages. They have every right to stay and pick up their money. None of us know if any of the squad last season came here for the money or the shirt but I would suspect as likely most of them are not and were not City fans I expect it was more for the money. That goes for David Nugent and Kasper Schmeichel and Neil Danns just as much as it does Johnson, Pantsil and Beckford.

Why don't we all just ****ing wait and see how the summer and then the season pans out.
The first paragraph displays a keen insight into the modern game.

The second paragraph shows you know feck all about this forum.

Vardy will sign today.

If he doesn't then nobody can have a go at me because things can change so quickly in football, I'm just giving you the information I'm given.

This insider stuff is easy.

I assume that's a post from Foxestalk? I read it as Babylon taking the piss out of 'insiders'.
