Lingard has gone back to Utd

Jesse Lingard has returned to Manchester United following his loan spell at Leicester.

Lingard linked up with the Foxes at the start of November along with fellow Old Trafford trainee Michael Keane, who the Championship promotion hopefuls hope to keep for an extended loan period.

The 20-year-old forward made five league appearances for Leicester during his time at the King Power Stadium, all of them coming from the bench.

Could well be though I think the extended agreement had also come to an end so possible a mutual thing not to extend as he's not playing much for us and as you say, Utd will want him playing regularly. Probably end up at P'boro I guess for the rest of the year.

Unsure if we'll be bringing a replacement in as such as Pearson has brought Gally back into the fold recently so we do have 4 options for the wings with Gally, Marshall, Dyer & Knocky so not really needed unless one of them gets injured imo.

Didn't we just renew his loan until the end of the season?

True about Gally coming back in. See how big a part he plays.

This all seems very sensible. Lingard did not even make the bench against Huddersfield so staying serves no useful purpose for the player, Leicester or Man U. While St Ledger is injured Keane may well get games alongside an experienced centre back - good for us good for the player and good for Man U.

Good news on both counts. Keane was excellent against Huddersfield so we can have a longer look at him. Lingard however has been totally ineffective in his substitute appearances and showed no spark or suitability to Championship football at all.

Would have thought Fergie will look to loan Lingard at League 1 or 2 level and see if he can hack it there. If he makes a success of that, then try a championship loan next season, if gets nowhere lower down, release in the summer...

This is a guess, isn't it?
