It appears to mean anyone who has played professional football

It appears to mean anyone who is well known for either being and doing something good or being a complete and utter c***! Which must mean BG is the biggest Legend ever!:icon_bigg:icon_wink

In 2010, 'legend' apparently refers to:
1. Any good, very good, exceptional, world class, adequate, inadequate, poor, very poor or unfathomably woeful footballer, snooker player, singer, boxer, cyclist or actor.
2. Anyone who has ever said or done anything mildly amusing.
3. Anyone who abuses copious amounts of drugs (alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and illicit anabolic steroids especially).
4. Anyone who does or is capable of doing at least one thing of which at least one other able-bodied person is incapable.

Tbf, The Birch is the worst when it comes to giving people "legend" status.

Phil Gilchrist is not a Leicester legend, ffs!

You can't ban words, that's silly. Apart from ****, nigger, spazmo and wise.

They're just offensive. And made up words like lindop. Made up words should be banned or it will become really difficult to communicate effectively.

The word Mohammed should be banned too as it causes offense to the Islam. Although Mohammed isn't a word really. It's more a name. Can names be banned? Wise is banned so I suppose so. Is gandarn banned? It's a made up word so it should be.

Life....it's never simple. Does anyone else have any suggestions for words (or names) that need to be banned so that the moderators can start punishing people that use them. I'd like to have emoticons banned too. They're shit, like those rofl things that people use.

So... what is a 'legend'?

Defining a legend is very hard Macky.

You know since growing up I have seen many "legends" come and go, whether it be in the media or in normal everyday life or even on the news. I see a legend as being someone who is good/very good/great at what they do, they extent of the legend is based on purely how they cope with their sport. Legends can be seen in different ways, an example of this would be Lionel Messi, he is a great legend as he is amazing at what he does and he is quiet and goes about the sport in the right way. In comparison I believe that Joey Barton is a legend as he is good at what he does however his actions of the pitch are so outrageous that he is a legend, purely for the fact that he is a wanker, I mean he is one of a kind. Who would be as stupid to do the stuff that he does, the way he has responded though and has came back from his injuries shows that he is a legend. Then you get the average legends, these are people such as McGivern, this is mainly out of sympathy, the guy is shit at what he does and he is just a quiet person. I would tag him as an average legend as I feel sorry for the stick he recieves, and the fact that he is so bad and he is one of a kind as no one else fortunately can ever play football as badly as he does. This is only really legends in football though, out of football you get to see a whole new breed of legends. My Mum is a great legend as she has to put up with me, she gives me money for season tickets and generally she is nice to me. A good legend out football is say the big issue seller outside Sainsburys in town, this is as she is the only one in town and she is also known througout town for what she does, what a good legend. An average legend out of football is say Barry Chuckle, he is a poor actor but he has given a lot of humour to viewers over the years, he is also known all round, but not really for good things.

Hope that has made things a bit clearer.

Please note - this is only my view on legends please don''t feel as though this has to be your view.

So Hitler, Mao and the HAL9000 computer are all "legends" then?
