I don't think the card providers charge for transactions, but the club will hire the equipment.

Also, Credit licences from the credit companies (visa mastercard etc) are a fortune, so nearly every buisness uses a third party company to handle the credit transactions, they of course charge for the priviledge.

Debit card transactions are processed through the credit companies (visa mastercard etc) for security and convinience. it would be too hard to link every shop to the individual banks for account balance information. and there is an inevitable delay therefore in spending money and your balance changing. if you over spend because of this delay, the credit companies will pay the shop, and then recover the money. there is of course a charge for the service.

Since a licence direct from the credit comapanies can cost from £500,000 per year depending on how much money you process, its better to get a third party and pass the cost direct to the customer.

many shops don't seem to charge extra, but the reality is that if you pay cash, you are more than likely paying for a credit transaction anyway.

Surely the internet charge comes down to the fact that another company runs the internet ticket booking service. think it says the name when you go into that bit of the website. They will be charging the fee, lcfc dont see any of it. When you ring up/email etc then they are simply charging a fee for handling the card transaction as do many companies, not that i agree with that.
