Making a lot of assumptions there mate. Just because he's 20 doesn't mean he's gonna wrap the car around a tree. If anything he's likely to respect the car more because of what an expensive gift it was.

And why would the kid crashing the car make him feel any less generous? Makes no sense.

I don't know why i say these things, as a 22 year old who got a car as a pressie and have not crashed it it could be seen as a bit hypocritical i guess. I think the point i was making was that there is a reason why he can't afford the insurance, they would see a young footballer with a powerful car and think that he has quite a good chance of crashing it.

Having not met the young chap personally i couldn't say how reckless a character he is. Any way i wish him well he'll have to get saving for next year tho!
