Konch is a bad buy

Did you watch it on tv or live? Because I think Drinkwater's performance was one of those types of performances you seem to notice a lot more live than on the tv i.e. he didn't make any flashy passes, tackles, shots etc. which would be mentioned by commentators, but he was just absolutely everywhere, playing one-twos, finding and creating space and generally the team playing through him.

I watched the full 90 minutes live. I just seemed to notice that a lot of our moves which broke down were from him. Cross field passes going straight out of play, being forced back to the halfway line from corners, putting simple passes astray whilst breaking. I think he looked good in the sense that he covered a lot of grass but his distribution was pretty hit and miss

Konchesky was patchy, the missed header was the first long ball he had to deal with after GTF had changed sides. Fortunately they didn't try to expose the miss-match after that. On the whole I thought he was solid enough.

I agree that Drinkwater played well but a few attacks did breakdown when he tried a fancy pass. They weren't even chance-creating passes, which can often be excused.

Giving a long contract to someone 30 and over was always a risk. With Sven's treatment of Berner, you'd think he would have been a lot more wiser when discussing with the board/Neville over signing Konchesky.

Konchesky, however, was complete toss. He may look good coming forward if you watch it on the telly - but he is a defender who isn't very good at defending

I was at the KP and although he had his moments generally I thought he read the game well and got into the right places
