Laptop overheating

My laptop seems to be getting very hot very quickley at the moment and its also making a racket sucking air in. Any ideas what's causing it/how to cure it?

Probably a broken fan, a clogged up fan, or the air vent is blocked.

Open the case and put some ice cubes in, that should fix it.

You could try pouring dihydrogen monoxide into it, most supermarkets sell it. Careful you don't inhale any though, it's dangerous stuff.

Mine had this problem and it was because a tiny piece of plastic has broken off the grill in the side and had dropped into the fan, stopping it from turning. I poked at it with a paperclip to get it to drop out and not had the problem since.

Poking the insides of electrical items with paperclips is always a good idea, even if they're not broken.

So should I pour water on it before or after I jab it with metalic objects? I pressume it should be plugged in during all of this.

Well plug that into the fridge too. Just be careful your fridge doesn't overheat or you'll have to plug it into the freezer.

And if you have a fridge/freezer then you're fecked.

It was just through the vent, and I could see the piece I needed to move, I'm not stoopid

You may need to glue together some of the welds that may have become loose. Cut a hole about (i'm guessing) the diameter of a mars bar adjacent to the fan.

Make sure as per previous posts it is plugged in at all times.

Strip from the waist downwards. Put strange appendage that is located between your legs in the hole and make sure it is close to the fan.

When you feel a warm feeling in your loins you are nearly there.

When the fan stops completely or you have a sharp pain running the full length of your body' remove the appendage.
