I also like the leeja at the top of castle street, not the nicest looking place but the food and service is generally very good.

Leeja in Hinkley, yeah?

Leeja Palace in Oadby is one of my favourites. Really sharp, distinct flavours - especially the Green Herb Chicken.

I'll have to try the Thai Orchid. We haven't been to a thai restaurant in leicester yet. Thanks!

Went there last night. Some excellent dishes such as the vegetable tempura. Some of the stir-fries perhaps not as sharp as they could be. But a nice, friendly, relaxed place to eat.

you know simla well so try that and the guys that used to own simla now own simla peppers in bosworth which is a lovely, well designed( ;) ) restaurant. Also try chilli nights in barlestone, excellent food, great service and you can take you own alcohol so pop in the co-op next door and you are well sorted for a cheap meal. Both of the last two are obviously only if you can get the mrs to drive!

agreed on that one, food is very good

Mem Saab looks expensive but for the two of us it was 20 quid a head. Thats with one beer (driving) and a white wine plus water. Starters, mains, rice each and naan each.

If you go try the garlic and coriander Naan MMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm.

The Grand durbar is highly reccommended!

I don't live in Leicester but I've been to the Grand Durbar many a times!

When my Dad's friends go to a match the same day as we are, we often have a meal there, about 15-20 of us. The service is incredibly good, the kindess of the waiters seems more genuine than most places. The portions are of a good size, as are the drink portions.

The naan bread is great, it's delicious. Highly recommended. This place made Indian food my favourite food! No joke!

I love Jo Allens in London, just a stone's throw from Covent Garden, on Exeter Street.....Unpretentious food, amazingly done.

Pie 'n' green slime, jellied eel and whelks, no doubt.

Calm down Dour, I'm sure by 'unpretentious food' he just means none of that shit like coffee served in a big glass instead of a mug. In Ely at Costa Coffee they serve all their hot drinks in tall glasses on a shitty little saucer, i mean why o why? :102:
