Im not having a go at RK because I think he is a good guy and I think hes a better manager than CL, but I think you are right. He has proven he is good enough and I'm sure he would have come in the close season. Personally I don't see RK as a particularly long term manager, although I really hope we are successful under him.

I've gone back on my word about posting here....and i certainly don't want to get embroiled in the personal nasty stuff again, but I think it might be worth saying that the respective line ups yesterday told the story.

Because of lack of finance we are no longer in a position to be competitive even at this level. If you are forced to set out to defend for 94 minutes against a better side then its almost certain that eventually by some route that you will concede goals.

Fryatt is still a kid and will struggle at leicester without having a more experienced striker along side him.

I too suspect that RK is not up to it, but to be fair he has probably had less flexibility to deal in the market than any previous City manager.

We stand 18th today...and IMO have no real prospects of a significant improvement this season. There is a clear danger that as we move into the winter that the youngsters will lose heart.....because we are not going to take the pressure off by scoring a decent amount of goals.

It's all pretty obvious really, I'm afraid.

welcome back, well done on the 1000 & you are always welcome, don't let the bastards get you down.

Increasingly I am getting the feeling that nothing is going to change at this club (for the better that is), without serious investment. Whoever the manager is I can't see them getting more out of our players than RK, we're just not good enough.

unfortunately we have arrived at a situation where the board seem to feel totally content with just surviving in this incredibly mediocre division, sadly there is absolutely no way this will change unless we dream the impossible dream of a sugar daddy or the academy produces a Theo Walcott type player who we can sell for multi-millions, even then the manager would only be given a fraction of that to spend

unless the board open their eyes and smell the coffee they'll be faced with ever decreasing attendences through the lack of quality players at the club, I just can't see an end to this very depressing cycle under the current regime, if the board had balls they would have got Newell in, instead they took the safe/cheap option in Rob Kelly, nothing against the bloke but I haven't seen anything this season to suggest we'll do any better than just scrape above relegation zone

His contract runs out at the end of the season, so should the board wish to they could easily bring in someone else.

No it's doesn't. He's on a one year rolling contract.

But essentially if they don't want to renew it they don't have to pay any compensation, right?

I think that's about right, except I don't think it's about the board being "content" as such. They have a business plan that doesn't extend to making the investments necessary to lift the club from its miserable state and either haven't got or wouldn't/ can't commit as individuals the additional resources needed.

Because of previous mismanagement and the fall out from administration, relegation and the end of the parachoute monies - the club is finding it difficult to compete....although its interesting that the Wolves where there have also been major economies have started quite well. Yesterday, we played another Midlands club which is of similar size and arguably of slightly less potential...but for obvious reasons the teams that ran out on the pitch were men against boys; the men didn't play that well but there was only going to be one winner.

I don't think we have a squad made up of young players bursting with talent... this is just a delusion or the latest spin coming out of the Walkers.

Unfortunately, its easy to analyse the problems, but not so easy to suggest solutions.

One of the Solutions could be to find someone with pace in midfield...............................try Hume.

Make your so-called wingers play on the wing instead of coming inside(acres of space on the left yesterday that could have been exploited)
Play your two strikers closer together rather than 20-25 yards apart
Sound enough at the back unless someone has a brainstorm. But all of that said if you cant make chances to score in a game you aint going nowhere are you

Amen, Ox. I think personally this is what most City fans currently think. I know me and my family/friends do.

You are right Ox,its not nice but you are right.Everything about the Club is stale.

I think we'd see a massive improvement if we could a central midfielder with pace, creativity and ability, like Izzet had. If you think about it, there has never been a replacement for Izzet and sadly the Academy hasn't produced any decent central midfielders yet (or at least we don't play them if there are any). Until Rob Kelly adresses this problem, I think it will be impossible for the club to improve significantly.

I agree with western, Hume could do a more than adequate job in an attacking midfielders role.

When he comes on he basically plays there anyway!!!

What games do you go to Fox Fan?

Hume this season:

Luton - On for Hammond up front
Burnley - Full game partnering Fyatt up front
Ipswich - On for Hammond up front
Coventry - On for Hammond up front
Macclesfield - Full game partnering COG up front
Southend - On for Fryatt up front
WBA - On for Fryatt up front

Been to every game this season Melton. Does it really matter who he comes on for? When he comes on he drifts back into midfield and basically plays in attacking mid. he could come on for kisnorbo and do exactly the same!

So are you saying we only play with one up front when Hume comes on :102:

I didn't notice that, I think RK needs to look at that then. I too think Hume could do a job linking up the forwards, but if we are only playing one up front then this would be fruitless I feel

To a certain extent fox fan is right, all of our strikers play too far apart from each other.
They never get the ball to feet from midfield thus meaning they drift apart chasing balls down the channels or dropping deep looking for the ball.
