France is not much further than I have to come. Once Eurostar starts to serve St Pancras, a person living in Paris could set off about an hour later than I have to do to get to the match.

That will be my sojourn for the next season. When the new high speed line comes in I hope to get a few games in. First game will probably be 1st Dec v Southampton. :icon_conf

When I was in Barcelona someone mentioned, that there is a high speed line which is open in September which goes from Barca to Madrid in 3 and half hours.

That kind of train would be useful for Leicester peeps stuck in Brussels, France and near Dover.

Barcelona to Madrid is only a little over 300 miles; a 3½ hour journey between the two would therefore average just 89 m.p.h.

MML already covers the 99 miles from St Pancras to Leicester at an average speed of 86 m.p.h. - not much difference there!

When the new High Speed 1 line opens into St Pancras, a Saturday morning journey from Paris to Leicester could be carried out in 3hr 51 min - an average speed of 104 m.p.h. for the 404 mile journey - with no allowance made for the ½ hour wait in London and the fact that the journey involves travelling through two different countries. A similar journey from Brussels to Leicester would take 3 hr 35 min; I don't have the mileage for that journey.

Your Leicester peeps stuck in Paris and Brussels are already better catered for therefore than the Barca fans from Madrid and those in London are not much worse off. Those from Dover have to wait only another 2 years before they will be able to use the new Javelin trains along HS1 into St Pancras, cutting over an hour off their overall travel time to Leicester.

Let's not knock the services that we already have - particularly when they are already better then the ones that you are comparing them with.
