I agree with the match of the day pundits that this result was a result of Chelsea's superior quality. We pressed more in the first half, but they passed around us with relative ease. As a result we stood off in the second half and they still had the quality to find space in the final third.

2 of the goals were a result of stupid defending, but generally we looked well organised. Our biggest weakness was the lack of an attacking threat to make us more competitive and take the pressure off the defence.

Claudio's lies about our closing down and general effort has gone beyond the sensible decision of protecting players from criticism. Im starting to think he doesn't care any more than certain players do.

I'm willing to write this off as an experiment that didn't work. We need to get back to tried and tested (now we have Ndidi and Mendy fit).
I'd like to see:

Schmeichel

Chilwell
Hugh
Morgan
Simpson

Albrighton
Ndidi
Drinkwater
Gray

Okazaki
Vardy

Eden Hazard, what a player. And Chelsea have several of comparable quality. We were dicked by an on-form, better side. They've done it to others and will do it again.

They do have much better players but that doesn't excuse accepting defeat at half time.

I'd put Mendy in instead of Drinkwater, but otherwise I'd pick the same team as you.

Yes, the players looked as if they didn't believe in what they were doing when they started the second half.

I can't believe Claudio didn't change it at half-time. It was bleedin' obvious the system was not working.

I was really looking forward to this match. I thought we'd be up for it and give them a right good game. How wrong can someone be.

Ranieri over thought it. He changed formation to counteract an opposition but he did it very badly. Against Chelsea, some teams can adjust to three at the back; we can't. If we do want to adjust to counteract them, we need to play three forward players with two of them right on the flanks to occupy their wing backs. It was glaringly obvious that the switch wasn't working, but he persisted with it.

Having said that, what is wrong with our players from last season? They appear to be incapable of doing anything other than 4-4-2. It's like they're a pack of robots with no programming for anything else. It's pathetic that they cannot make simple changes in formation for games and within games without dithering about pointing at each other like they're playing a completely different sport.

I thought we'd see the Vardy of last season tonight. He's had a month off to get fitter and hungrier but he was useless. The total opposite of leading from the front. He made half arsed attempts to chase crap balls, clapped the player supplying the ball (usually Drinkwater) and then disappeared up his own arsehole once again. Musa was much better but inexplicably moved wide and then subbed.

Drinkwater was our 'free' man. It was his job to get the ball and play in Musa and Vardy. His forward passing was diabolical.

However, above all others, step forward Fuchs. He's been dreadful this season but this was his worst performance of all. Totally clueless and contemptible application. He surely cannot retain a place much longer. Although Chilwell has some rough edges, he is far superior.

I could pick out others from last season. Schmeichel was brain dead and gormless throughout for example. Those not part of the title winning team did well (N'didi, Mendy, Chilwell, Musa). They were shamelessly let down by those that don't give a shit anymore.

Chelsea won't have an easier game this season. Except maybe for when they played us at Stamford Bridge. They were very average tonight but didn't have to do much to comfortably beat us.

Totally gutted by that tonight. Utterly let down. And whether we want to admit it or not, we're in trouble.

As usual, your analysis is bang on. Fully agree.

Ranieri got it wrong, the players looked clueless all game. I watched a tactical masterclass where everyone knew what they were doing, against a side that looked like it had been put together at the last minute by pulling blokes off the street and asking them to play together.

Well and truly battered by a far superior side and not even a hint of effort and drive to at least try and put them under pressure. That early goal killed the crowd and the team mind.

The hopeless hoofing within 20 yards of Vardy and hoping he works some minor miracle is just ridiculous. He needs much better service if we want to see the Vardy of last season. We look completely lost for ideas, we seemingly have no game plan.

Fuchs' days have to be numbered, he was horrendous today. I think he has been ever since Chilwell broke into the side and put in some terrific performances. I cannot see how Ranieri can persist with him any longer. Both Chilwell and Gray bring an energy to the side that was distinctly lacking today.

But thankfully we won't play sides as good as that every week. That front three of Hazard, Willian and Pedro is frightening. Their movement is superb and they barely put a foot wrong defensively. Bring on Saints and hopefully back to what the players look comfortable with.

Bang on.

Drinkwater is one of those players that needs to be dropped at the minute, just like Mahrez was. One of the untouchables and that annoys me. AND FOR GOD SAKE WILL SOMEONE DRAG SOME MUPPET IN OFF THE STREET TO REPLACE MORGAN.

Can't say I agree with the MoTd commentators. We didn't defend well for most of the game and didn't create much of worth for most of the game. I guess it's a bit harsh, a defeat against the top 6 is generally expected/accepted but you worry about us even against the lesser teams.

I remember experiencing a very odd feeling when Chilwell attempted a shot on goal.

I imagine he will be fined for going against team orders.

What a load of doomsayers. That was one of our better performances this season. chelsea are clear at the top of the table and deservedly so as they move players and the ball so quickly and have a solid defence.

I thought Ndidi looked class - the best midfielder on either team - Mendy looked good and defensively Drinky was okay but his passing forward was terrible. Albrighton did alright but his passing always gets worse as the game goes on. Chilwell looked good too and Gray was great when he came on.

I didn't think think anyone had a really bad game. The first goal we weren't ready to play but for the last half hour of the first half we were the better team. we came out cold for the second half but it was only a wicked deflection that allowed the goal. Kasper had the shot easily covered. from there it was only going to be a losing battle against Chelsea.

Vardy is probably the player I'd select as the worst out there. He really did nothing and I wish that Musa - who ran all over the pitch had got the striker role with Vardy on the bench and Gray starting on the wing.

You clearly have already forgotten so many of our performances this season.

If that was one of our better performances of the season, god help us.

We were chasing shadows all game. Chelsea didn't even bother getting out of second gear.

That's why we have no away wins and only 5 in 21. You clearly have forgotten. Chelsea are the best team in the league unlike every other team we've failed to beat.

This season is developing into one where the first goal is absolutely key to our results in the Premier League.

In twenty one matches, we've scored the first goal five times only. In every one, we've gone on to win the game.

We've had three nil nil draws.

We've conceded the first goal thirteen times. We've not won once when this has happened and only recovered one point three times.

To me, that speaks volumes about the fragility of our players and the lack of fight they seem to show when something goes against them. Pretty scary really.

I've just gone through the fixture list (sad I know) and counted 10 better performances and 10 worse performances. It definitely wasn't one of the worst performances of the season, but definitely wasn't one of the best.
