Was always going to be a difficult week after the Mahrez saga, you cannot lose your most creative player without it having an impact to performance and results, however as each game goes by, I am convinced the management team will find a pattern of play and formation that will allow us to move forward without him.

Whilst this issue will have a short term impact, it will however give players such as Diabate, Gray and even youngsters like Barnes and Thomas an opportunity to taste premier league action. This will allow Puel to assess what changes / options he needs when Mahrez inevitably goes in the summer.

This situation now has to be used for the long term benefit and development of Leicester City. We are evolving our style of play and at the moment we are actually managing to sit in the top 8 of the league whilst going through a transition in style and seeing the introduction of younger players into the match day squad. There is still plenty to be positive about and I am excited to see how far Puel can take us, especially once he has had a summer to bring in players.

My team and set up for the remainder of the season would be as follows 4-2-3-1

Schmichael

Simpson / Amartey
Maguire
Dragovic
Fuchs / Chilwell

Ndidi
Iborra

Albrighton / Gray
Vardy / Ian Nacho
Diabate

It would probably be akin to the abuse he got when he made a twat of himself against Everton to gift them a goal. We need a new LB, end of story but until then we will have to struggle on with Chilwell who has no idea how to defend or Fuchs who lapses in and out of the game sometimes.

Puel's over reaction perhaps? This is were Everton rumbled us, they filled that space and caused us problems, nipping at our heels, pressurising our passing.

I've noted before that Puel seems to like the centre backs to play wider apart, and for Ndidi et al to drop into the space to receive the ball, and we build from there. I didn't particularly notice us not doing that yesterday but I do recall more Maguire forward runs, so maybe Puel tried a little tactical change after Everton and it didn't quite play out. Or maybe Silva was further forward than James or Iborra would play??

I think a few thought he'd dived, also not long before 2 or 3 Swansea players went down "injured", most realised very quickly it was a genuine and serious injury

That's a good question. Lack of final bit of quality? Swansea having bodies in the way? Both? Point is, 1st half, there was only 1 team in it. We were virtually camped in their half. But it happens to even the best teams sometimes.

It's a lack of genuinely good movement.

Moving the ball around their half means nothing without real penetration from good movement.

Amen Brother, When watching Fuchs play is like a pantomime as you are always shouting " behind you"

Well said,l think some are in awe of their passes as they stop to admire them,rather than shift their arses into a position that gives the player with the ball an option!
 
Interesting analysis from Taggart on Dragovic. He's definitely improving game to game. I also think Maguire's improvement recently is at least partly because Dragovic is positionally better than Morgan at covering him. I genuinely cannot see Morgan getting back in unless Dragovic gets injured now.

My brother and I said as much on Saturday. They seem to be developing nicely as a pair.
