I am sure I heard that the pitch had been lengthened. Could that make is look narrower? What is better? Length or girth?

I seem to remember that when King Power won the Rugby World Cup venue, one of the reasons cited was that Welford Road had too a narrow a pitch with no safety run-off area.

It is possible to comply with this that the pitch is a bit narrower to accommodate a bigger run-off area, as well as the astro turf making it look a bit narrower.
