Worth remembering we are missing four nailed on starters in Mads, Wilf, Fatawu and Ricardo. All undoubtedly premier league quality, all missing.

We don’t have the depth to account for that.
Personally I'd like to think Wilf is not a nailed on starter. All three midfielders did very well today. I think we're missing Fatawu's directness as an option for sure. Mads is clearly our best GK by a distance and basically dragging anyone off the streets would be an improvement on any of our back four...

Fair in Wilf, but that’s more down to the emergence of Soumare (finally).

I didn't watch the game, I was out on a family Xmas event, I did dip in and out listening via talk sport. Highlight for me around the 60th minute was Stuart Pearce saying "James Justin is Man City's best player"
Another thing it's very annoying when they keep referring to Man C as "City" when you aren't listening 100% of the time you have to wait until a player is named before you know what the play is about.
Very poor and lazy media commentary.

Every commentator and co commentator it seems to me says "City" every game and it's infuriating. But there's only one Citeh in my eyes.

Well I thought it was our best performance of the season, and the first time we’ve actually looked like a Premier League side. There is stuff to work with here.

Winks and Soumare were simply excellent. Buonanotte and Mavididi worked hard and looked dangerous. And El Khannous was the best player on the pitch by an absolute country mile. He really could be something special - time will tell. Kristiansen also provided excellent support down our left hand side and marshalled Foden and Savinho very well overall.

On the downside Vardy was extremely wasteful, Coady was fast asleep for the second. Keeper made a howler for the first and James Justin was absolutely ****ing wank - for the 19th ****ing game in row. He’s totally and utterly out of his depth in this league. ****ing hopeless.

Despite the above, we were better than them overall and, despite their billions, we had the best player on the pitch.

Find a proper right back and we might be in business.

I wish our previous manager had thought so. Ya know, when they were actually fit and available. It’s in tbe past I know. But c/would we have more points now if they weren’t sat on the bench earlier in the season.

That was exactly the sort of performance we saw a lot of in 22/23. Some really good play at times but there was an air of inevitability about the result.

I concur about El Khannouss who should be the first name on the teamsheet, as I've been saying for a while now. He's the only player we've got that can do something that an opponent cannot defend against.

The pairing of Winks and Soumare was good overall. Some technically inventive play from them both. The other thing with Winks is that he's one of only two 'talkers' in the side. The other one is Coady and you see them both constantly praising and bollocking team mates. For me, these two have to play for that reason alone. We're a very quiet team without them.

And now for the reason we will continue to lose regularly and inevitably get relegated. We have two incompetent full backs. Justin is painful to watch nowadays and needs to be put out of his misery. It's just not a pleasant sight to see someone so out of his depth. Kristiansen is not a PL full back either. He's just not good enough at anything. He had the ball a lot today and did feck all with it. Defensively, when called upon to be strong, he's always weak.

I'm also sick to death of Mavididi. He's quite obviously not PL standard and yet again today demonstrated it. He got the ball in good positions loads of times and put one decent ball in. He's a Championship player pretending to be a PL one.

I'm also going to call out Vardy. He could have had a hattrick against Wolves and fecked all three chances up. Today, he also had a number of good situations and made poor decisions every time again. He may have a range of 'goat' clothing out, but he's been playing like an actual fecking goat recently.

Well, it was our best performance for a long while in an attacking sense...& typically we failed to score. We created almost **** all against West Ham & Brighton...& got 5 goals across the 2 games.

Leicester ****ing City everyone.

At least 3 defenders need to come in from somewhere & we need a coach who can integrate them quickly. Do we have such a thing? Doesn't look like it.

Also, Ricardo would be an improvement I suppose but let's be honest, along with Justin & Kristiansen he's yet another who's better going forward than defending. Not what we need.

WTF happened to full backs who can ****ing defend? Do they even make those anymore?

Weird sort of day. My mate Dave is here watching the Liverpool game with me. He's paying me a belated birthday & Xmas visit, bearing alcoholic gifts. Nice.

The slightly hamster faced woman doing the punditry on Sky has just explained how she doesn't think Salah meant his assist. I'll hand you over to the minutes of the conversation :

Dave : " The **** would you know? Get the ****ing teas on you silly bint "

Me : " **** sake Dave "

Dave : (grins) " She can still suck me off. No eye contact though "

I think unreconstructed might be the word I'm looking for (among others)

Glad he bought alcohol. Sounds like you need it.

Sat next to a proper, full fledged nazi skinhead on the bus today. Had “skinz” tattooed on the side of his head in German font and a black widow on his face…. Was that Dave?

Englands lovely, isn’t it?

Dave actually IS a large bloke with a shaved head (so am I for that matter) but his only tattoo is an LCFC running fox.
& his Mrs is black, so I reckon racism isnt part of his agenda unless hes' really, really shit at it.

& yep...there's some bollocks in England for sure.

I guess it must be especially jarring for you though since you live most of the time in a part of the world that has always been far removed from any suggestion of racism, bigotry or any talk about white supremacy & such .

Oh...hang on...

Really don't see what people see in Vestergaard and Kristansen even in just that one showing. Result was 2-0 but we got away with two instances of statueqsque defending defending from Vestergaard in the first half. They should have been 3-0 up despite us playing well on the whole. Kristiansen is piss poor at defending as well, weak on the ball, clumsy in posession and pretty bad positioning/ reading of the game as well. Who cares if he's 'OK going forward' if he's ****in hopeless at his main job?
It's not that people see huge amounts in Vestergaard, more that he seems to be the pantomime villain. I don't think he was at all bad today and absolutely nothing like as poor as Coady. In fact, he's been much better than Coady almost every time they have played but seems to get far more stick.

In truth, we need two CBs and two FBs but if we're honest, that's not going to happen. Our priority has to be the RB position, followed by the LB position and then a CB or two.

There was enough on show today for everyone to see that if both the FB positions were repopulated with actual footballers, we could have enough to stay in the league.

Well I've just watched it and overall I was quite happy with our performance. At times we showed Enzo levels of patience and, I hate to say it, but I think Vardy disappointed. Midfield looked like premiership players. Soumare should have Kisnorbo's old song, whereas Justin should have the opposite, he used be alright. If only we had Ricardo back, or Justin could find his old form, we play like that and the great escape is definitely on.
