To be honest I think we rode our luck at times in this match. Corners were bloody awful, they had two free headers that on another day would have gone in, and right at the end our attackers were all trying to get a goal rather than play it safe into the corner and give relief to the defenders. Burnley nearly scored right at the very end and that would have been devastating.

I think we do look very good going forwards and pretty solid at the back but I do prefer Okazaki starting to Gray. I think Gary's goal and one that hit the post will mean that his ratings are a bit elevated to what that should be. Don't get me wrong, he's a class player. I just think we get more from Shinji.

Ndidi had a great game I thought. Mahrez's hair was interesting and seemed to help him, all round good performance and a win but, and it's a nice problem to have, we still have to improve on key areas. Oh, and Schmeichal wasn't really at the races was he? Distribution was terrible!

Agree with the posts on our pathetic defending of corners yesterday.

We were very fortunate to get away with it, particularly in the 1st half.


Also agree on Kasper. I actually think he's going backwards with his distribution and although difficult to believe due to him being poor already, his ability to come and catch or gather the ball.

He needs to sharpen up.

I also continue to be amazed at how narrow we are at the back on the right side. The left winger has so much space in every game it's almost like we want teams to continually come down that side, which may be the case.

Although it was a relatively easy game to referee, I thought he was weak and poor. There were a couple of other ugly challenges that he ignored.

I like a ref to not want to be the centre of attention, but he just avoided doing his job.

I think that’s definitely the case. I watched it pretty closely and Simpson was choosing not to go out and meet the player. Logic will be that Simpson is a better bet to clear the ball than block it. It also allows Mahrez a bit more space should we break.

I spent a weekend in Dublin once and I have absolutely no memory of it.

I still don't know what to make of Puel. He is a tactical manager and when it's going well, he knows how to keep it that way (unlike his predecessor). He's struck very lucky to inherit a very good group of players and it's his job to develop them and help them to fulfil their capabilities.

I don't think it has anything to do with luck.

He badly wanted the job and knew exactly the strength and weaknesses of all our players which is how he impressed so much when interviewed for it.

Our board should be congratulated. Not only do we try and recruit players with something to prove, like Albrighton and Simpson etc. but we have recruited managers like Pearson, Ranieri and Puel who were probably unfairly dismissed from previous positions and who also have been desperate to prove themselves.

I thought Vardy showed a lot of awareness and discipline to hold the ball up today, adapted his game well to make different spaces and angles for Gray and Mahrez.

The most satisfying thing about yesterday was seeing Vardy adding a new dimension to his game, playing with his back to goal and laying the ball off to Gray, Mahrez and Albrighton etc. instead of always running away from the ball.

Not only is good for us but also for England.

I thought Wilf had a nightmare in the first half, especially compared to his performance against Spurs.

As for the keeper, I think you have to accept that occasionally the ploy of kicking the ball to the touch lines for Chilwell and Mahrez to control or head on will result in it going out of play but it is usually very successful.

You clearly haven't traveled much! Like most major cities there are rough parts, but also really attractive parts (much of the Southside, including Trinity College, St. Stephen's Green, and the attractive Georgian Terraces around Merrion square). In Phoenix Park, it also has the largest contained urban Park of any European capital, including a deer herd, a wide variety of wildlife, and a fine zoo. The National Museum, The National Concert Hall, and, the recently refurbished Docklands with their impressive theatre are also very fine. There are areas of Dublin that I don't like, but I find crassly stupid generalisations hard to take. Next visit I suggest you leave your blinkers at home.

I’ve traveled extensively in my life. In the last year alone I’ve visited 5 continents and dozens of major cities. Im fortunate to have the opportunity and certainly don’t have room in my carry on for blinkers. I didn’t enjoy Dublin. Certainly not as much as I thought I would bring a Joyce fan. As you say Trinity College and some of the museums were a good experience.

Have you ever been to Sunderland? or Coventry? I enjoyed my visits to Dublin much more than these two and could maybe think of worse but I suppose it depends on the reason for your visit.

My comment on you not having travelled much was tongue-in-cheek. I don't think that you are crass and stupid, only that you are capable of occasionally making statements of that nature. Aren't we all? No hard feelings?
