Ruth's Refrigerator and the Deep Freeze Mice were the best Leicester bands.

Davey Graham was good and hugely influential too.

edit: Oh shit! Forgot about Prolapse too - another great Leicester band.

Diesel Park West. Were they from Leicester?
I saw them supporting The Go-Betweens once. They had three guitars + bass. Very reasonable. Much better than The Go-betweens.

Yes. I saw them at Abbey Park music festival once. Wasn't impressed.

The Go-Betweens were really not very good. Even DPW were better.

To be fair to DPW I probably didn't give them much of a chance. If I remember correctly I saw the first couple of minutes before someone suggested we went to see what was on the other stages. It's a shame Abbey Park festival no longer happens, it was a cheap way to see lots of local bands.
