People blaming the two stand in defenders for not being able to stop a rampant Spurs team who had zero midfield to battle with, ludicrous.

Well they were to blame just not solely. Benny needs to take a lot of blame. Fuchs not so much - that's more down to Shakey.
I'm going to back Shakey up here. When the only other options are Wasilewski or a kid from the academy, what else could he do? Amartey wasn't an option as we were short on CM's.
I don't blame Fuchs or Shakey for Fuch's poor performance, I blame whoever was responsible for our summer recruitment. All that money spent on strikers, and nothing on defence.
I really rate Amartey going forward (along with Chilwell, Ndidi, Gray etc... we have an exciting young core) but if I were him I'd leave for first team football in the summer. Behind Andy King OMG.
I don't
One of the glaringly obvious issues with this side is that they are woeful through the middle in an attacking sense.
Our only approach to play is wack it wide and hope. We dont ask the opponent any issues through the centre at all, hence Spurs defending so far up the pitch they didnt have a back line, it was embarrassing how we didnt exploit the gaping gaps that were there.
I habe an issue with how we play now, mainly because we dont actually have a style when in possession of the ball.
In my opinion we need to change formation as this current setup is weak and obvious.
Fuchs who has trouble defending in the position that he has played most of his career was a terrible choice to move to CB, make all the excuses that you want for Shakey but you won't convince me. Was is a true CB and leader, he would never have allowed a stiker to score 4 goals, he would have crippled them first. We also have a "reserve" side which has natural CBs, what is the point of a developmental team if you are not going to give them a chance in a relatively meaningless game when no other true option exists. This match was made for Elliot to show what he can do and leave the season feeling that tthe opportunity to break into the first team is there for next season if he puts the off-season work in.
Amartey was certainly an option and really should have been first choice before Benny, we have other players who can play in midfield. Amartey could be the answer to our CB problems next season and now would be a good time to see if that's the case. He isn't an RB that's for sure and he's below f'king Andy King in Shakey's list of midfielders.
