It's worse than heroin football isn't it? I was adamant that I wasn't going to bother today.

I can't not go though. I know it's almost certainly going to be shit. We'll sit back, concede, and then hope to avoid humiliation. But it's that 5% of hope that it might not be like that, that does it.

33 years since we won a Premier League home game on Boxing Day (see the On this day thread). Just 12,053 days since I saw us win that game. Another world . . .

If Spurs don't win anything this season, I can see them having an exodus in the summer.
Then they will return to their rightful place :)

Well, Maddison, Chilwell and Pereira would slip very nicely into their squad so be careful what you wish for, etc.

I don’t remember anything like the myth that now gets passed around about that, and even then so what? We bested them. It would be more appropriate to hate every single club, fan and media outlet who have patronising Little Leicester for having had their day but should now be happy with life to young between divisions again. But I don’t have room for that much hate in my life

My Spurs hatred is quite personal and ultimately did calcify in 2016. They are the de facto choice of American “socccuurr” fans (can’t pick a team that wins everything, can’t pick a team that is too shit) . They amount of conversations I’ve had to have with “tottingham” fans. **** sake. I know that makes me sound like a dick but there we are. I don’t begrudge the sport from anybody...but I guarantee you that if you see an American with Spurs gear on, they will be the type to say offsides and headball.

Compounded by most “proper” Spurs fans I do know personally being unerring arseholes.....

And then, though you may not remember it, there was a distinct whiff of entitlement and a belittling attitude from their fans and players in 2016.

Full disclosure. I was a Spurs fan before I was a Leicester one. Then I turned 10 and decided that life wasn’t for me.

Also, I agree with you regarding human rights violations...that said...the former king of Thailand was not exactly perfect on that front.

Any single reference to/ conversation about Spurs in any media outlet regarding the fact that Pochettino has won nothing will inevitably end up with a reference to 2016 and that it was then that they 'should have won it...'

They didn't even come second FFS

That (plus Ali and Kane being lauded as footballing Gods, even though they aren't ) means they myst never win anything, ever.

Because they are wankers

Free hit today. No expectation on us to turn them over but a modicum off pressure on them after the weekends results. If we got the first goal it would get very interesting. I hope Liverpool win the title out of those that are contending - having been to Anfield, the history, the noise from the Kop etc, they are a special club in the fabric of British football. Not as special as the Foxes and what we achieved, but I really detest Spurs and Man City and the London biased press. If it can’t be us, the not them.

Of all the teams I dislike, I loathe Arsenal with the very fabric of my soul.

Liverpool winning it and continuing the non-retaining of the title makes the league much more interesting.

I don’t want any team to dominate it again.

I haven't missed a home game for ages but I'm gonna miss this one. I've felt as rough as a badger's arse for the last couple of days and I just couldn't face the thought of driving up there. No doubt this will be one of those "aren't you glad you were there" games but I just can't be arsed.

Anybody that watches Alli and Son do one of their 'handshakes' and doesn't feel the compulsion to hammer their heads repeatedly into concrete isn't human.

The truth is, no matter what happens from now until the end of time, we did them. They can beat us every time we play each other for evermore and it won't equal 2015/16. As such, I cannot hate the club with the passion I only reserve for the likes of Florist and, well, Florist.

There is a long gap between the tricky trees and the rest.

'so called fan'

I would like Liverpool to win it, the more teams competing for it the better I think. Also I have found you can have an enjoyable drink with Liverpool fans, they are generally quite amicable, knowledgeable and realistic, they have also been quite respectful of other clubs. The exact opposite of Spurs fans I have met.

I was born in the 70s and grew up in the 80s. Every glory boy in the world was a Liverpool fan. They’ll always be the team I can’t bring myself to like, really.
