Listening to RvN talking about what he wants to do aligning with last season, I wondered what side EM would select this evening based on the current group.

I came to this one.

Hermansen
Choudhury Faes Vestergaard Justin
Skipp
Buonanotte Ndidi El Khannouss Mavididi
Vardy

Choudhury deputised as Ricardo last season quite a bit. Skipp is the only midfielder competent enough in possession to do the Winks role and Buonanotte can easily do the Fatawu role. El Khannouss is then left doing the Dewsbury-Hall thing.

I wonder how close to this RvN will go this evening.

Head-to-head

  • West Ham have won two of their nine Premier League visits to the King Power Stadium (D3, L4), with the most recent victory coming in October 2020.
  • The Foxes won both meetings in 2022-23 and are vying to record three consecutive league victories against the Hammers for the first time since 1966.

Leicester City

  • The Foxes are one shy of 500 top-flight home wins.
  • Their tally of 10 points is one fewer than they had in their most recent Premier League season in 2022-23, which ended in relegation.
  • Leicester’s only win in their last six midweek Premier League games was a 2-0 home victory against Leeds on 20 October 2022.
  • They have kept one clean sheet in their past 19 top-flight fixtures at the King Power Stadium.
  • The Foxes have lost five of their last six games in all competitions, with two of those defeats coming against Manchester United, who were then under the temporary charge of Ruud van Nistelrooy.
  • Van Nistelrooy is unbeaten in his last 20 matches as a manager in all competitions, including four as Manchester United interim boss this season and 16 with PSV Eindhoven in 2023.
  • Jordan Ayew has three goals in his last six league games, all scored in added time as a substitute.

West Ham United

  • The Hammers are vying to win consecutive Premier League away games for the first time in 2024.
  • But last weekend’s home defeat by Arsenal means they are in danger of losing back-to-back league matches for the first time this season.
  • The Londoners are unbeaten in each of their past five midweek Premier League matches (W2, D3), including victories at both Tottenham and Arsenal.
  • With eight goals and seven assists, Jarrod Bowen has been directly involved in 15 goals in his last 18 top-flight appearances against newly promoted sides.
