Superpundit Paul Merson with his verdict for this game:

‘’Wolves were patient against Everton, passing it around nicely without going anywhere but they got the point in the end.

This will be a different game, Leicester will look to catch them on the counter-attack. I'll go with 2-1 to Leicester.’’

When did he last watch us?

I only watched the first half of the Wolves game but I saw them give the ball to Neves at every opportunity who would then hurriedly ping a 40 yard pass over the defence to one of the wingers, often out of play.

Not totally convinced he watched the Wolves-Everton game to be honest.

I really really really really really really really really really really really really hope that we give these a ****ing good hammering.

Might stop everyone wanking themselves silly over them.

Give them a proper welcome to the PL

I think Puel will stick with the same side from last week, given that Maguire only returned to training last week there has been very little opportunity for him to work with and develop any kind of understanding with the new centre backs we have signed.

I think the integration of the new defenders to the match day squad and the phasing out of Big Wes will transition over the next couple of months.

Ricardo Maguire Evans Chilwell

NDidi Silva

Ghezzal Maddison Gray

Vardy

I think this is the most likely side. It's not quite what I'd go with, but the signings/preseason makes little sense if Puel doesn't pick this eleven.

Wolves play 3-4-3 which caused us a lot of trouble last season. Both teams will want to push their wide players on so those two battles will be key. I think we have much better wide players though so I'd be disappointed if that wasn't a positive for us.

We have to start improving defensively as we shipped too many poor goals last season and have already started that again this time. Now we should start to have some of the new faces in the defence, our defending has to get better.

Everything they do goes through Neves so he's the key man to stifle. Maddison may need to show he can battle it out in midfield a bit today as well as do the fancy stuff. If Ndidi ends up doing the grafting around Neves, we'll be too vulnerable at the back.

There is a lot of fuss about Wolves and I watched them against Everton last week expecting better to be honest. They were pretty average and still have inferior players to us in most positions. I can't see them being any better than lower mid table.

It's a very important game for the manager and his formation today. If we're positive and keep the game at a high tempo, it should be a solid three points, preferably with a clean sheet.

I agree with all of this. Tempo will be the key today and if we play with the pace we are capable of they will struggle to contain us. Neves pulls the strings for them so we need to find a way to nullify him; do that and we take away their biggest threat.

Play to our strengths and let them worry about us.
Team line up is not an easy call.
Do you go with the same starting 11?
Do you bring in Vardy?
Is Albrighton fit? If so drop Amartey ?
Is Evans ready?
I watched Silva have a great game for Portugal in the World Cup. Over 100 touches. He was a conduit that made them tick.
A run of games for us and hopefully we'll see that side of him.

I'd be surprised if Evans came in yet.

The defence did well last week other than Amartey so I don't think he'll make defensive changes yet other than pushing Ricardo back to right back for Albrighton or Ghezzal to come in at RW.

If/when Morgan comes out of the first team, it will be interesting to see who gets the arm band! Even though I think he'll gradually transition out the team, I suspect he won't be a regular in the starting line up after a while.

Will Maguire take the captaincy? Or maybe Vardy?

Completely agree. Would be harsh on Morgan who played well against Man Utd.

Whatever happens today, I love the first home game of the season. I’m going with my dad and my 5 year old son (who really likes going to matches) and looking forward to it :023:
Remember taking my son to his 1st game.
Sat up in the double decker v Dirty Leeds.
Heskey got the winner :)
