Goal size isn’t a factor.
Men’s goals are still the same size as they were 160 years ago.
Men on average are now 4 inches taller but still score lots of goals.
Women on average are 6 inches shorter so 2 inches shorter than the original goal width. Women goalies will get better and women goal scorers will get more accurate.

I think this particular international break has broken the record for the amount of utter drivel and inane rubbish posted on here to fill the time until some actual football starts again. It's torturous at best.

There's an organisational issue around changing pitch and goal sizes if nothing else. Currently everyone plays on the same pitches, with different age groups using the same 9,7 and 5 a side pitches. Changing this would mean either getting additional pitches (expensive!) or redrawing and moving goals between matches (a logistical nightmare). This would likely be impossible at grassroots level, hitting girls football at a time when it's really growing, and at the professional level it would make it much harder for women's teams to share facilities with men's teams.

Either of these would be massively unattractive, but I also just think it's not necessary. Women may tend to be smaller than men but it's not that big a difference, I'm prepared to bet that men's average heights at the time pitch sizes were enshrined in the laws of the game are shorter than what women's are today. They might have a little more space on the field, but that's just room to play in and show their skills - so if anything making the game more attractive to spectators.

Love to see you guys go and talk to the players, managers and administrators of the WSL and the grassroots women's game and tell them they should make the goals smaller and play on a smaller pitch :043: :043:

Maybe also advise them to wear tighter shirts and just play in their knickers

Yeah that’s the same…

Womens cricket has made changes and it’s arguable the most success women’s sport currently.

In golf women play off different tees, in tennis women play less sets.

I’m not sure why adapting the game slightly would be that much of an issue?

Currently all age ranges play in smaller goals, so that’s not an issue.

Also not sure why you are comparing the men’s game from the beginning of football to the women’s game now… The men’s game has moved on a little since then

Shall we say £1,000,000?

VAR was better back then though. They really had good protractor users back then, and sharp pencils, too. Very accurate.

The point is that boys and girls play with the same pitches and girls at the same age group, meaning it's easy for them to all play on the same pitch. I don't know about where you are, but pitch availability is an issue for all junior clubs round here.

The men's game has moved on, the men are taller, stronger, faster and fitter than in them Victorian times - but the pitch is the same. So the question is, not why don't we make women's pitches smaller, why don't we make men's pitches larger?

The irony of this post made me smile.

Very much so.
From what I saw, Everton played the better stuff, but City got stronger in the last 10 minutes or so.

Having a good goalie in the Women's game makes a lot of difference imo.
Thankfully we have one.
Plus they defended well when they needed to.
Everton I thought flattered to decieve
