Reckon he could. He could even do alright in the Premier League for a team that doesn’t play the way we do. The main complaint with him seemed to be that he doesn’t defend.

Is he ever a useful impact sub? No. Apart from if we want to shut a game down sometimes. From an attacking perspective, never.

Is he a terrific professional who never lets us down? Absolutely.

He's into his last year of his contract now and turns 32 in November.

Would it be smart to extend his deal? Not really.

Would it be a better option for him to leave for a 2-3 year contract and a more important role elsewhere? Absolutely.

Should we do that? Depends on how you look at it.

We shouldn't hand out contracts based on what a player has done for us, but on what we expect them to do.

I wouldn't begrudge him a new contract, as long as it's line with (what I expect to be) a reduced role in the first team and squad.
