Previously the central defenders have usually done ok. I pointed out that as time went by our lack of depth there would be a problem - injuries, feeling knackered due to pressure, suspensions. Its happened now - failing to strengthen the defence over the summer is inexcusable. Pearson and whoever else went into adeep slumber close season.
