This should be an excellent time to play Man City. They are distracted by off the pitch events. They are distracted by a much more important match at Real Madrid on Wednesday. They have a few players missing and one of two others who will probably be rested. They played on Wednesday and we've had a week without a game.

Although they beat West Ham comfortably on Wednesday, they were poor. Their passing and movement was sloppy and lethargic. They do seem to raise their game when they play us though.

I was pleased that Rodgers emphasised how aggression was key today. We need to get into them early and hard. We're too soft as a side at the moment and no defensive midfielder won't help with that. If De Bruyne plays, hit him early on. Take a yellow card for fecks sake. We need to assert ourselves on the game. And it is time for Vardy to come out of his winter hibernation and do some defender kicking. Please don't overthink it Brendan, we just need to get into them.

The crowd need to play their part too. We've also been soft for a while now.

Bring Bennett into a back 3 (5), then swamp the midfield 5(3)
Have JV up front with Nacho man
Put pressure on their defence from the start.

Referee: Paul Tierney.
Assistants: Gary Beswick, Constantine Hatzidakis.
Fourth official: Jonathan Moss.
VAR: David Coote.
Assistant VAR: Sian Massey-Ellis. (where's the bloke?)

Interesting that David Coote is also the VAR for the match now Chelsea v Spurs.

He's just put out a statement that he's made an error and should have red carded the Spurs player who quite clearly committed a red card challenge. He looked at it several times and then bottled it.

Is it right that he's got that on his mind going into doing the same role in our match in a couple of hours?

Be interesting to see if we give Mahrez the freedom of the pitch again today.

If we do that again then I can see Chilwell getting destroyed by the crowd.

he watched that again and again for several minutes too. And he’s already changed his mind? Good job Chelsea won, particularly after the Maguire incident on Monday, otherwise Lampard could have rightly felt aggrieved.
