This is the reason digital ticketing is far more efficient.

For the sake of balance, there was total chaos in the Kop for the Man City game with a line of people unable to get their digital tickets to work. One even asked me to help and seemed to have everything correct but the turnstile wasn't having it and nobody was around to help.

I'd be really interested in knowing how many people with digital tickets have to go to the ticket office to get sorted out before getting into the ground. @Foxes_Trust - could you ask the question?

I have seen almost nobody having any problems with their digital tickets that aren't self inflicted because they can't follow the easiest of instructions correctly. It's the simplest of systems that has worked without fail every single time I and all of the other folk I attend have used it. An almost identical system incidentally, that has worked flawlessly on every train, aircraft, and at every gig I have attended in the past few years.
