Not this season. 12 on the bench. Five substitutions allowed (but only on three occasions during the match)
I looked at several match squad last night when checking scores, none had more than 9 subs named and only 1 keeper

That's ambiguous innit?
perhaps the ones I checked only chose to name 9?

I don't know why we didn't do the same as we did with the PL list, name all the Academy players eligible on List B at the same time as the main list then fill the bench up with the youngsters, might even get a chance to chuck a few on at some point, you never know one of the could do a Rashford, get chucked in out of no where and show they are ready to play.

9 changes from our last European match in April 2017. The team that day:

Schmeichel
Simpson Benaloune Morgan Fuchs
Mahrez Ndidi Drinkwater Albrighton
Okazaki Vardy

I see that both captains tonight are the goal-keepers.

Yet we've named injured players who more than likely will miss most of the games

Ridiculous
Completely agree. Also the same with Gray - took a needless gamble that he may not have been here.

Surely this match would have been a good opportunity to build up the match fitness of Morgan, Albrighton and Under.

Bizarre.

What I meant was that you could be saying that 2 keepers were named. Well, more than one anyway. You might have been saying that 'none had only 1 keeper'

Sorry, as you were.

Currently no bookies offering odds on how many injuries we'll pick up. Disappointing.

“You can never make wholesale changes and expect to compete at this level” says the manager who did just that against Real Madrid when Liverpool boss I believe (on BT Sport)

Maybe he wasn't looking to compete in that game....

...He has chosen to go that way with us for the most part since December 2019.
