Another defeat to Scotland. Our lack of commitment to this tournament has been embarrassing. I haven't look, but I assume we are well bottom. Some respectability would have been more important to me than 'blooding youngsters', I think we've done enough of that.

I used to think it was bad when Jack Birkenshaw fielded youngsters like Haye, Stanger, Ditta etc for the odd one day game here and there.

But fielding such a young team with a real lack of ability does no favours to the County or the players themselves.

It's almost getting to the point of the Warwickshire debacle of last season. Do any retired ex cricketers fancy a game? Or what about a former County players younger brother perhaps? Anyone will do. Just as long as you've brought your own spikes.

It's very important in these uncertain times with talk of a radical re-organisation of county cricket that the County projects a positive approach and fields decent sides.

As you imply it just isn't in Leics interests to turn out weaker sides than necessary and irrespective of the Pro40 league position, it is important to win matches.

The selection for yesterday's games and the ensuing humiliation does us no favours.

Sadly, I have believed for a long time that there is an absence of quality leadership - and this event just re-inforces that view.
