Leicester City Football Club can confirm that defender Liam Moore has joined Championship side Reading on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old centre back made a total of 67 first team appearances for the Foxes since graduating from the Club’s Academy, scoring one goal, in a 2-0 win over Wigan at King Power Stadium in 2013.

A powerful and versatile defender, Moore’s time at Leicester City has seen him form part of Championship and Premier League-winning squad under Nigel Pearson and Claudio Ranieri respectively.

Moore’s consistent and commanding displays during City’s 2013/14 Championship title-winning season saw him win the Football League’s Player of the Month Award for September 2013 and underline what he can bring to Jaap Stam’s promotion hopefuls.

He could make his debut for the Royals this Saturday as they play host to Chris Hughton’s Brighton and Hove Albion in the Championship before tackling MK Dons in another home clash in the EFL Cup.

Alongside his playing time with the Foxes, Moore has picked up extensive Football League experience with loan spells at Bradford City, Brentford and Bristol City, while his top-flight debut came against Everton on the opening day of the 2014/15 campaign.

Moore’s most recent outing for the Foxes came in August 2015 during a 4-1 League Cup victory over Bury, before a 10-game loan spell with the Robins in the Championship.

Liam has been with the Foxes since the age of seven and leaves the Football Club with the best wishes of everybody he has worked with as he embarks upon the next chapter in his career.

We thank Liam for his years of hard work and look forward to welcoming him back as either a visiting player or friend of the Club soon.

Quite sad really that it didnt work out here; I'm sure he'll do well at Reading.

This gave me a real lump in my throat when I read it...

  • 17 years...Wow, #LCFC what a journey it has been! From walking through the academy door as a kid to walking out to a packed KP stadium as a young man for my premier league debut, it's been something special. I have some unforgettable memories and accomplished things myself and my family are nothing but thankful to Leicester for. On that I would like to thank every single member of staff and coaches that has worked with me over my time at the club. The work behind closed doors has a massive contribution to where the club is now. A really tough thing about the move is the lads I am leaving behind. It's a amazing dressing room, with a group that would do anything for each other and the heart of lions, PRICELESS. Last but not least I want to thank the fans, your support towards me has been incredible. Being a local lad I always felt I had a responsibility to represent to the fans on the pitch. And I believe you guys acknowledged that, so THANK YOU. There is no words to describe the feeling of you singing my name from the stands.
I hope the club can continue to progress as I look to do so in my new adventure.

So proud to have represented LEICESTER CITY.

    One of your own

Good luck to him and great to see such nice words about the club.

Think he was unlucky with timing here as much as anything - needed first team football at a time when we were pushing on and needed better. If he'd been a couple of years earlier he would've been a regular.

Good luck at Reading. Hopefully his development can push on under Jaap Stam. Hope we've got a sell on fee

Three great memories of the man. Obviously his goal, when he went completely nuts.

The second, a do-or-die clearance which ended with his nuts squished against the post. At which point he probably wished he had died.

The third - the game against Brighton when promotion was confirmed and he still looked drunk. Like most of the defence, to be fair.

Good luck to him. Always put his heart and soul into matches for us and he deserves game time at his age.

Hope he develops into an england international. Staap's a good man to learn from even though I thought that NP would snap him up for Derby.

Wasn't it NP that removed him from the squad in the 1st place?

Wasn't it NP that removed him from the squad in the 1st place?

My memory may be hazy but wasn't he injured initially and lost his spot? He obviously didn't get that position back but he is so young ( wasn't he 21 and playing in the prem?) and the championship is a different kettle of fish to the prem. He performed there well under NP with us.

Still maybe you're right.

I'm also surprised that Derby haven't made an offer for RDL.

Interviewed on RL now.

"The old manager told me he was taking me out for a couple of games, we'd had some bad results, (and I didn't find myself coming back into contention)....I was questioning myself, football moves on quickly."

"Last season, I was a victim of the club's success."

"I went off to Dubai this summer with a personal trainer and came back in the best shape I've ever been in."

"I chatted to Claudio and he couldn't promise me game time. At my age I need game time."

Doesn't begrudge CR and wishes everybody the best.

Glad to see Liam looking good so far in the first half for Reading against Ipswich, for whom Tom Lawrence is on the bench. Reading defence is a car crash waiting to happen, with Jaap Stam's insistence they play the ball out of defence at all times, but he looks concentrated playing as left sided centreback with a couple of almost Drinkyesque floaters over the top about Reading's only attacking threat until they were gifted a soft pen just before HT.
