Blimey this thread missed 2016 as if it never existed.
Best gig of 2016 for me was Brian and Robin's Christmas Compendium of Reason at Hammersmith Apollo in December.
Brian Cox (the professor) and Robin Ince (comedian), put together a show featuring music, comedy and science, but nothing is announced in advance so you don't know who you're going to see until you see them.
Music was from Public Service Broadcasting (excellent), Nitin Sawhney, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, David McAlmont, Hackney Colliery Band and Duran Duran.
The previous two years the show had been closed by The Cure and New Order, two of my favourite bands, so I was disappointed that it was Duran Duran, but they're good at what they do.
Comedy came from James Acaster and Milton Jones.
Most of the science bits were funnier than James Acaster. Scientists included Alice Roberts (in a blonde wig and angel wings), Ben Goldacre, Adam Rutherford, Helen Czerski , Chris Lintott and Chris Hadfield (he introduced Duran Duran), and more I can't remember. Basically lots of people you'd know if you watch BBC science programmes.
Excellent night, booked tickets for this year's as soon as we got back to the hotel. http://www.eventim.co.uk/Tickets.ht...tickets&erid=1116583&includeOnlybookable=true
