What chance do we have of making permanent signings out of any of the loanees?

Davies
Gilbert
Martin

would all be nice pickups.

I would think Gilbert would be the most likely.

Wolves don't want to let Davies go.

Davies is in the last year of his contract though isn't he?

Can't see us getting Martin to be honest.. probably not Gilbert either... and maybe not Davies if Jeff says so.

Wolves had someone at today's match and they might decide not to extend his loan. http://www.shropshirestar.com/2008/12/20/davies-can-still-play-part-at-wolves/

I don't think Gilbert is Arsenal class. He's not played for them for nearly three years so I'd be surprised if they suddenly decide they want to keep him on the strength of a decent season in the third division.

No, but he might do/have done enough to impress a lower Premiership team or a Championship team.

Hobbs not mentioned, but a definite NO I think.

I'm assuming that's why he wasn't mentioned orginally... Definetely not going to be able to keep Hobbs, would think Liverpool will still want him.

All three sounded as though they had good games today. Davies and Gilbert have sounded particularly good in most of their games.

Martin was his usual self, a bit dodgy, even after today I would not be sad to see him go back to that team along with his mate Hobbs who I thought was our worst player on the pitch.

Davies was really good today, always looking for the ball and always did something with it as well.
Gilbert also had a solid game.

I thought Martin did pretty well today but I am not bothered whether he stays or not. I think we could find a better keeper.

Not particularly impressed with Hobbs so far - definitely not at full back. He is a bit of a hoofer and error prone.

Davies look good for this division and would be worth signing.

Gilbert - very impressive. Great going forward and does so great covering work. Pity Gradel is out of form as they are particularly good together. If we could sign him it would be a great boost for next year in the Championship - Edworthy is OK for Div 1.

The Don

As I recall Arsenal tend to ensure they get good fees for their youngsters - if a club like Charlton or QPR (for example) have seen Gilbert and are impressed enough to bid we might find him out of our price range.

I think it is all up to Powell himself. He is one of those honest guys who will know when it is time to retire we wont need to tell him. He can stay as long as he feels able to do a job as far as I am concerned

Bugger! He looks the part

Hobbs not mentioned, but a definite NO I think.

His contract with Liverpool runs out at the end of the season.

How were the loan signings today? I can only assume fecking good.

Davies magic, Gilbert solid, Martin dodgy (let a ball at 2mph roll past him and hit the post and then went walkies at one point and had to a Tunch special tackle), Hobbs is ok, error prone, can't pass.

I have it on good authority that Gilbert would be delighted to make a permanent move to Leicester. Whether the two clubs would be able to come to an agreement is less certain.

Your right about Davies, i thought that was the best centre mid display ive seen in a foxes shirt since our mates Muzzy and Lennon left.
