Development Squad midfielder Tyrese Shade will spend the 2021/22 season on loan with League Two side Walsall, subject to Football League approval.

The talented 21-year-old has impressed with his recent performances in Premier League 2 for Leicester City’s Development Squad and will now continue his progress by gaining experience in the Football League with Walsall.

Shade joined the Foxes from Solihull Moors as a 17-year-old in 2017 and has continued to develop through the ranks of the Club’s Academy in recent years.

He’ll now link up with his new team-mates ahead of their opening fixture of the new League Two campaign away to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday 7 August.

Young Leicester City striker George Hirst will join League One side Portsmouth in a loan deal until the end of the 2021/22 campaign, subject to Football League approval.

The 22-year-old striker quickly established himself as a key player for Leicester City’s Development Squad following his arrival in July 2019 and went on to make his first senior appearance for the Foxes away to Tottenham Hotspur a year later.

Hirst, who represented England from Under-17 to Under-20 level, spent the 2020/21 season on loan with Championship side Rotherham United, where he appeared 32 times in all competitions.

That development will now continue on the south coast at Portsmouth, with Danny Cowley’s side set to get their new campaign underway with a visit to Fleetwood Town on Saturday 7 August.

Talented young Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen will spend the 2021/22 season on loan with Championship side Preston North End, subject to Football League clearance.

The 24-year-old Danish youth international will build on an impressive loan spell with the Lilywhites in the second half of last season, where he played 23 times in the Championship and followed on from a loan spell in the Belgian First Division with OH Leuven in the first half of the campaign.

Iversen joined Leicester City in 2016 and having progressed through the Club’s Academy ranks, and has gained an impressive amount of Football League experience on loan with Preston in the Championship, Rotherham United in League One and Oldham Athletic in League Two.

Internationally, he has represented Denmark from Under-16s to Under-21s level and received his first call-up to the senior squad in 2019.

He will now link up with his Preston team-mates ahead of the club's opening Championship fixture of the campaign against Hull City on Saturday 7 August.

Talented young Leicester City midfielder Callum Wright has joined League One side Cheltenham Town on a season-long loan deal, subject to approval from the Football League.

The 21-year-old has caught the eye with some impressive displays from the centre of the park as captain of Leicester City’s Development Squad since his arrival from Blackburn Rovers in 2018.

Those performances continued in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign, which he also spent on loan with Cheltenham – scoring four times in 17 appearances and helping the Robins to promotion as League Two champions.

Wright is now set to link up with his team-mates ahead of their League One opener away to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday afternoon.

Hirst to have another season getting splinters in his arse I'd imagine

Tyrese Shade starts for Walsall against Tranmere.

Iversen, Wright and Hirst are on the bench for Preston / Cheltenham / Portsmouth.

Didn't even realise Hirst had gone on loan again.

Did that happen early in the summer?

He's clearly not going to make it here is he.

Young Leicester City midfielder Khanya Leshabela has joined League One side Shrewsbury Town in a loan deal until the end of the 2021/22 season, subject to Football League approval.

The 21-year-old Academy graduate has progressed through the Leicester City ranks to become a consistent performer for the Development Squad over recent seasons.

The South African youth international’s progress continued in March this year when he came off the bench to make his Premier League debut in a 5-0 victory over Sheffield United at King Power Stadium.

Leshabela’s development will now see him link up with his new Shrewsbury Town team-mates ahead of their League One fixture at home to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday afternoon.

Leicester City’s Development Squad defender Sam Hughes has joined League One Burton Albion on loan, subject to Football League clearance.

The 24-year-old has been a regular for the Club’s Development Squad since his arrival in 2017 from Chester, where he was the team’s Player of the Season.

He has enjoyed loan spells at Salford City and Burton Albion while with the Foxes, scoring his first league goal for the Brewers against Charlton Athletic in November 2020.

Hughes will now continue his development with a second loan spell at the Pirelli Stadium with Burton Albion.

i do sometimes wonder about these lads who stick around well into their 20s despite there being no indication they’re anywhere near the first team. I think it’s great that our club supports players in their development even when it’s clear they’re not likely to make our first team, and I’m sure there are myriad advantages to being at a Premier League club with a fancy training facility and highly paid coaching and sports science staff. But at a certain point you have to play some football, and not just a handful of games on loan. Where’s the ambition in a 24 year old who hasn’t played a senior game in four years at the club?
