I think they took the option off later versions of windows as they expect that you will use various different users and have passwords to enter each one. It’s the only way I can think to do it without using 3rd party software.

I was sure there was a way in 98, you could write a script on a folder and it would password protect it, guess not though.

In a way it would seem logical, however I suppose they provide the capacity for multiple user accounts to get around this.
