i brought and watched the DVD today, and it makes me wanna get up and do more stuff. I know i went around Britain for the charity footie ground tour but doing what those guys did must have been amense.

The trip was Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman who decided to ride their BMW bikes around the world, the video footage at times can sometimes amaze you and also at times get quite emoitional, i really recommend this. Quality viewing

How long is the DVD SF? The series I saw was about 6 episodes, each an hour long, so is this an edited highlight package?

yeh this was a fantastic series. after watching this Ewan Mcgregor gets big respect, he's a cool totally level headed guy. can't wait for the follow up. they are rumoured to be doing "A long way down" a route from london through europe and africa. hope it happens. can't wait. :038:

where did you here about this?

i know that that charley boorman guy is doing or has done the Dakar since.

I read about it in a Total Film Magazine i think. said that they both want to do another one but due to movie commitments it will be at least 3 or 4 years. Ewan Mcgregor also said he wanted to go back and do the road of bones alone.

alone:icon_eek:

they struggled enough together with the back up team! having to cross rivers and having to cut down trees etc. to fill in massive pot holes and cracks in the road

not very sensible IMO!

Absolutely brillaint series. I bought it the day it came out and have watched it 4 or 5 times since. Great watch.

Personally - I think they're a pair of lightweight, pampered Hollywood tossers.

Challenging? **** off! They have doctors, security gurus, two sodding 4x4's and satellite phones. There's a team of researchers booking accomodation, arranging side trips and generally making sure that the Luvvies don't get too put out.

Christ! Last night showed that they can't even buy a decent sodding bike jacket with waterproofing properties.

They aren't bikers, they are just playing at it.

Now, when I used to tour Europe on my old Guzzi... (goes off into dull tales of bike chains, socket set and oil.)

Ewan has said on numerous occasions that he hates the fact he has so much support and him an Charlie like to ride of on their own with just the cameraman, the support either riding behind.

And im sure Ewan needs a lot of that stuff for his insurance.

charlie annoys the feck out of me. goggle eyed cock gobbler

Definately, enjoyed last nights with the Amalfi Coast as I visited there a few years ago.
Scariest drive of my life, and I've driven through Luton after 11pm....

I've never heard of this programme, looks I'm probably the only one though :icon_conf

Tell me about it.

We were on a coach going round the roads at about 50mph with the driver on his mobile phone.
Never been so scared with all the massive drops at the side of the road.
