i dont exactly believe he was god , but i do believe he was the best manager this club has had in its recent history, he made us an established premiership side instead of the yo-yo side we had always previously been.
he brought in players who had hardly had a look in at other premiership clubs or had been plying there trade in the lower leagues and made them into million pound transfer targets.
he gave us our first silverware since well before most of us were even born let alone started to support this club.
then he went and did it again just in case we missed the wembley trip the last time and then almost did the same for a third time.
at one stage whilst he was manager we were more regular at wembley than any other club including man utd and liverpool.
and most of all he installed a pride and a passion amoungst the players and fans which we are still aiming to achieve again now.
some may not still think of him in the same way they used too when he was in charge, but we all still crave too see leicester city play the way they used too when he was.
i adored my ex-missus once upon a time:102:
lets just say she dont come up in conversation much these days.

When a club is void of success, there is a tendency to hang onto the past. Just listen to the trees whimpering in division 3.

I'll always be greatful for the success Martin brought to Filbo. Prior to him I appreciated the wembley trips under Brian Little's regime, but alas they are all just memories.

Here's hoping for more Wembley trips.......(after the success in the 60's we had to wait until the 90's to revisit Wembley, hope we aren't waiting as long!!)

In other words, it isn't true!

Even though you have tightened your parameters to exclude Charity Shield games and clubs outside the top flight and specified a three-year period, it still isn't true.

MON was with us for the best part of 5 seasons, so there were therefore 3 possible periods of 3 years under his stewardship. In each of those periods we visited Wembley twice.

From memory, Middlesbrough did the same in the 96-98 period - FA and League Cup finals in 1997. And, again from memory, in both the 97-99 and 98-00 periods our two appearances would have been equalled by Newcastle when they lost consecutive Cup Finals.

Would you like to sharpen your parameters further in order to prove your ridiculous assertion? Or will you just agree that you were wrong?

The one thing that you can safely say, without fear of contradiction, is that City appeared at Wembley more than any other top-flight club on 27th February,2000. Perhaps that's what you were thinking of.

ok agreed i should have checked the stats, its basically over a 5 yr period and not including charity games. the 5 yrs being 1995 -2000,:icon_bigg but hey it was a general point in a post that was trying to show what MON had done for the club in the years he ws here.

oh and i would hardly call the assertions ridiculous seeing as they were originally not that far from being right.

so apart from all that what did the Romans really do for us......

the point im trying to make in all of this is that MON was the most succesful manager this club has proberbly ever had, he gave us a team that was capable of far more than we expected. and although yeah its in the past and we move on with new managers and players we still owe him a debt of gratitude for what he did and for actually giving this club a part of its history which we can be proud of.
i dont say he should be worshiped or anything of the like but i certainly dont agree with slatting the bloke or slagging him off because he is now with another club.

He was GOD! He is the reason why we expect and demand so much now. He gave us a taste of what we all want. I worship the ground he walks on and if anybody has a bad word to say about him, then they are idiots!

I would say you are an idiot

I would say you are an idiot

You wouldn't and obviously don't know me then. I'd guess you wouldn't think that at all if you met me. I do not know how we can criticise a manager who gave us all we could expect for a club our size.

So whats your opinion on O'Neill then? Do you fall into my idiot category??

o'neil is the past ,yes it was good while he was here .

its over move on :icon_wink

I have moved on. I just like to reminisce sometimes. Takes me away from the current crock of shite that we have to endure. Oh, and by the way, it was a little more than good while he was here. Some people have short memories...
