Get him in, free transfer. Reliable. Better than weale.

Well thought of at Birmingham a few years back and had a great season in 03-04. However, according to his Wiki page, he'll be 40 next month so I wouldn't take him. He hasn't really played for a few seasons and is an unknown quantity. If we wanted an old duffer as back-up, we could have just kept Ricardo.

why get a loan goalkeeper in for one game, Weale looks like all his confidence has gone so why not play Smith v Bury aand on the bench thereafter

Or play Weale to try and get his confidence going, and if we lose then so be it, the league is waaaay more important anyway??

Dear sweet ickle Baby Jebus, save me from the utter loons

Please

While this thread is utter madness, I do think we could do with looking at a reserve keeper, perhaps on loan, for this season, as Weale has never really cut the mustard for me. Saturday's game showed that if Kasper gets a long term injury this season, he will end up costing us points. The only problem is, we'll struggle to find anyone better than Weale who is prepared to come here and sit on the bench in case our first choice keeper gets suspended or crocked.

I hear on the grapevine that John Burridge might be available.

In the 09/10 season most on here people appeared to believed that Weale was a good enough first-choice goalkeeper. Some even said, quite rightly, that he was Nigel Pearson's best signing of the summer. Now we're having a discussion about whether he's good enough to play in the f**king League Cup against Bury Town. Jesus Christ.

Yeh, and Michael Ball was sold for 6.5 million you know.
If you've seen any of Weales recent performances, you will also appreciate how much he has fallen from grace in a relatively short period of time.

Or marcus hahemanan on soccer am looking for a midlands club. Competition for first team is what we need.

i think Weale is a decent keeper who has lost his nerve. Perhaps he would have been helped by regular reserve games, maybe a short loan move would help him?

I agree. Goalkeepers, more than any other position on the field, need to keep their eye in competitive circumstances.

Get Kevin Poole back. Greatest keeper we've had in the last 20 years.

For a club with such a proud history of world class keepers, it amazes me just how little people know the difference between a good 'un and a bad 'un. Poole was garbage yet is held in high esteem. Similarly, the likes of Walker and Keller were ludicrously overblown.

On the other hand, Flowers had a marvelous first season with us and is hardly remembered. And Martin Hodge was an excellent keeper for a while before going off the boil rather badly.

There have been some pure shockers that we can all agree on like a Douglas or a Kalac. There have also been those that promised much and disapointed like Andrews or Muggleton.

Come to think about it, we haven't half had some shite in goal over the last twenty years or so.
