Ture. Walker was half the keeper he had been for Tottenham, and even at his best wasn't much cop. Keller's distribution was bobbins but he was an O'Neill player so he's automatically held in higher regard than he should be. It's the same for a lot of his signings. Not all of them, obviously. For example, everyone knew Fenton was shit. For a club with such a proud history of world class keepers, it amazes me just how little people know the difference between a good 'un and a bad 'un. Poole was garbage yet is held in high esteem. Similarly, the likes of Walker and Keller were ludicrously overblown.
Bit harsh that. Surely we all know how valuable Flowers was to us?On the other hand, Flowers had a marvelous first season with us and is hardly remembered.
Erm...And Martin Hodge was an excellent keeper for a while before going off the boil rather badly.
I have a list of them...There have been some pure shockers that we can all agree on like a Douglas or a Kalac.
I always cringe when I hear their names mentioned with genuinely good keepers. There have also been those that promised much and disapointed like Andrews or Muggleton.
A sample of shit keepers off the top of my head: Poole, Ward, Muggleton, Kalac, Arphexad, Keller, Walker, Coyne, Royce, Douglas, Henderson, Pressman, Stockdale, Martin, Warner, Ikeme, Kirkland, Weale, Ricardo, Logan.Come to think about it, we haven't half had some shite in goal over the last twenty years or so.
