We were attacking well all game really, certainly had chances to score in the first half.

Lookman had a very good game going forward too.

As you say though, defensively, we were shambolic.

Man City only had 1 more shot on target than us and 2 of those were penalties.

If we could defend, we could have been good for a point, if not more.

I watched Final Score just out of interest. As expected there was some grudging praise for our fightback but not one single mention of the fact that we were fielding basically a 2nd eleven.

Not one mention.

Then it was Man City would have been disappointed at losing control of the game for a bit.

Then tongueing Guardiola's hole for a couple of minutes.

Easiest job in the ****ing world I swear.

Glad that the travelling Leicester fans at least got some festive cheer. The result is no surprise at all. Basically, 3-0 loss away to Man City is a par result I'd say, so 6-3 with a patched up team is in a way a bit better, isn't it?

I can't really comment as I turned the game off after 15 mins. However, I've just seen the goals and we scored from some really good counter-attacks. Maddison and Iheanacho looked excellent.

However, the defending from corners was hilarious as ever. It appeared as though we gave Thomas the job of marking their central defender from them. Absolutely incredible stuff.
And Hamza appeared to be marking both CBs on the second. Truly shit.

Maddison was fantastic today. He’s been very good lately. He has every right to be pissed the hell off at the shambles that is our defence.

Ihenacho and Lookman were both very good today. Just possibly, Lookman was very good because our dopey manager finally played him in the position he’s played most of his career in.

Also I am not sure if we have mentioned it before but we have a trend under Brendan of seemingly trying to just keep whatever team out for the first 45 then trying to win it after.

It’s ok if that’s his tactic but the fact is that if we can’t defend, it’s not ever going to work. Am I making that up or do others feel that’s the way it goes?

What the blue **** is Schmeichel thinking for their third?

And more to a point - Tielemans for both penalties?!
Schmeichel is a very big part of our defensive problems (and yes, I know he made that save in the cup final).

It’s bizarre. The occasional time we’re actually winning at half time, we start the second half slow and let the opposition get a grip of the game. Then when we’re losing at half-time, we come out strong and give it a go.

Lookman though, very good too. Deserves some praise on here. In his favoured position, he’s certainly no transfer comparison to Junior Lewis…

Second half of the season needs to really change defensively. Better quality will help but something needs to give in the defensive tactics and training. Also Schmeichel is not immune to criticism. He needs to change something on corners to to dominate his 6yd box. If we didn't have such guns going forward we have a bottom 3 defensive set up.
