Right decision but would have been interesting to see if he had the balls to rule it out if it was a man city penalty. I suspect not.

Yeah of course he would - refs love spotting shit like that

Was it the right call though? What is the letter of the law? Did Mahrez 'play it to himself' or did the shot merely hit his other foot?

From the FA's website:

If, after the penalty kick has been taken:

the kicker touches the ball again before it has touched another player:
  • an indirect free kick (or direct free kick for deliberate hand ball) is awarded

I repeat, for the purposes of making the point, what is the wording of the rule? Before people assert a correct call ask yourselves if you KNOW what the rule is!

Edit: cross post. I knew Jeff would respond! ;)

What about the rule that a penalty has to be for a challenge in the area? Because the foul on Mahrez was outside.

There for the taking this lot

We've played like Middlesborough

We do, and he's playing at number 9. For some reason Mahrez gets first choice though.

They have a rule between them that means the role switches after a miss. Vardy was the last one of the two to miss against Everton at the end of last season.

So he should be back on duty for them now.
