Are all significantly better than the 3 newcastle players mentioned. Nolan is average in my opinion he just has a canny knack of scoring. He does very little else from midfield.

Chris Brunt was part of a West Brom team that finished rock bottom of the league last year and no Premiership teams were interested in buying him, he has established himself as a NI International, but that's not a particularly difficult feat considering the quality of players they have to choose from.

Whittingham had his chance at Aston Villa, and while he's certainly had a purple patch this season, he's hardly set the world alight before that and has never scored more than 5 goals a season before this year.

Wheater, to be fair, should be playing in the Premiership, but I think it's a massive stretch to claim he is 'significantly' better than the three Newcastle players mentioned.

Meanwhile, Gutierrez and Coloccini are established Argentinian internationals who have played and impressed at the top level in Spain. And Nolan has finished top scorer and been far and away the best player in a fantastic Newcastle side this season and was a solid PL player for Bolton.

I would argue that Gutierrez, Coloccini and Nolan are significantly better than the other 3 mentioned.

Never actually rated Tudgay, was speaking to a Sheffield Wednesday fan not to long ago and they were slating him, wouldn't want him here especially for the stupid price that Wednesday will want.

I'd say we've done pretty well with 'championship signings' so far and if we go up I have no doubt that Nigel will strengthen the side where it is needed. I don't know where this surplus of quality players who want to play championship football is, to be honest out of the whole league there are only three players who spring to mind who I think are too good for this division and they are Coloccini, Gutierrez and Nolan.

IMO there are a lot of players currently plying their trade in the premiership who aren't even nearly good enough for that level.

The two successful signings from Championship clubs this season have been Weale and Wellens. I think Weale could play Premiership football. Wellens deserves a chance at Premiership football though I fear he may fall into that category - too good for the Championship and not good enough for the Prem.

It does seem to me that the best source of players too good for the Championship is the Big Four. The prime example is Jack Hobbs. From what I have seen of Spearing I would like to see him signed if possible.
Last year the loan signings from the Big Four of Gilbert and Cleverley worked well.

It is easy to forget that in Tunchev we have a player who IMO was Premiership class even when playing in League One. We have hardly seen him this season but if he fully recovers what a boost that will be.

I'm certain it will be a huge boost when we have him back and I'm sure he would have been first choice this season ahead of Wayne Brown - the man was far too good for League 1.

But I can't agree that he's 'Premiership Class' having never seen him play in the Premier League or against Premiership opposition. Seeing as he hasn't made more than a sub appearance for us this season, I can't even agree that he's Championship class. I hope that he comes good in either the Champ or the Prem next season, but as always, time will tell.

You are right that I can only speculate on how Tunchev would have done in the Prem. My view was partly due to the fact that he looked a world above our other defenders - obviously Hobbs and Morrison have matured since then. The other piece of evidence was that he played for a Bulgarian team that kept a clean sheet against Italy. I am not sure but believe the other players from English clubs were with Liverpool, Spurs and Man U.
His layoff has been so long that I am concerned he may never be quite the player he was.

Update:

Tudgay's Agent has spoken to a City 'representative'. City have expressed a firm interest only if they don't go up. Targets are different if promoted.

Fee will obviously need to be agreed with Wednesday but they are keen to relieve themselves of his circa £10,000 a week wages which don't go down following relegation. He has a release clause of £3.5m in his contract but his true value is nowhere near this figure.

No better than what we have iMO. Even if we don't go up I think we could do better...

Think he is good enough, and would trust the manager to bring that best out in him like he has a lot of other players.
