I'm almost certain that we could match what Birmingham paid for him and offered him in wages. He's a squad player for them, nothing more.

He'd be a squad player for us too. We are aiming higher than Curtis now.

It's not going to be that easy for us to sign established players from the domestic leagues.

All the financial advantages are with the Premier League clubs and those receiving parachute payments.

As for players with previous behavioural issues - if they start scoring goal for your club then in ceases to be a problem.

Not if it's Marlon king it doesn't.

Parachute payments are designed to and don't normally go further than ensuring that the existing players' contracts can be paid. Any club that spends it on the recruitment of new players on higher-than-Championship salaries is courting fiscal disaster should it not be immediately promoted back to the Premier League.

The 'parachute payments' from West Ham to Sheff Utd did not give them an advantage. It is not just how much you have it is how the manager gels the players into a team. Look how long it has taken Man City to even start look like they play as a decent team despite the £200 million they cost.

Quite.

But there is also a strong motivation for a relegated club to achieve an immediate return to the financial riches of the Premier League.

People are more stupid and sheeplike than you give them credit for.

Redditch is spot on. A player could rape a donkey by the Clocktower after a match if he hit goals in every other game. In fact, I believe it features as a clause in three current squad players' contracts.

Probably in another thread but he has now said he wants to go to birmingham, rather than stay at Kovscum.

Agreed. While King is an absolute bellend off the field, he'll do well there. Plus Burke has always impressed every time I've seen him.

Brum have made a couple of shrewd signings in King and Burke IMO.

From the DM website re: the King signing......

"Birmingham, who have rejected a £5million bid for Cameron Jerome from Bolton, face a fans’ backlash too with message boards overflowing with criticism."
