Great Player, Great Leader and a genuine Good bloke. He put his heart and soul into everything at the club. Matty always gave 100% and in those heady days of Martin O'neill etc was one of the main reasons for our success.

I will always remember the defensive partnership with Walshie and the goals he scored. In these days of spiralling transfer fees what price a young Matt Elliott? It's a shame age catches up with us all as it has done with Matty, but we will always remember his glory day's with pride.

You did us proud and we are indebted.

The Birch is going to do a presentation at Half Time at the Crewe game. So hopefully most fans will boycott the Pukka Pies to stay around and show the respect that Matty Deserves.

Thanks for the memories Matt and good luck :!:

will he get a testimonial then ?

Testamonials are for 10years service. So unless they bend the rules (and he's had enough money out of us these past 2 yrs) then I'd say no.

Great player, who will be sorely missed, although him retiring free's up considerable amounts of money, it is a sad day to say goodbye to a player who epitomised MON's era, and was the last reminder of those heady days.

Goodbye and good luck Matty and thanks for the fantastic memories.

my one trip to wembley capped off with my favourite player scoring two, and one of my favourite players scoring at the other (grr). the way i'll always remember matt, as a player who won something for my club during my generation and in a period when i was able to actually travel to see them (too young for SC's winner). i watched boro finals but was no where near the same. pride, passion, simplicity and slick finishing and footing at time. that is matt in as few words as i can describe the lad. may of been a waste of money over the past few years but his contract and his injuries were not his fault, and will never spoil my respect for the lad.......cant wait for 'the send off'
