He's had his contract at Sunderland terminated by mutual consent.

That could mean he's about to sign for another club.

Could it be us?
Maybe the physio needs someone else to work on now Morris is fit :)

there'd be too much pressure on him if he came here anyway due to his performances last time around.

Piper recently had a trial spell with Coventry City but was not deemed fit enough for a loan move to the Ricoh Arena

He would certainly provide Momo with much needed competition, maybe we should offer him a short term deal to the end of the season, providing he proves his fitness then it could be extended into something more permanent.

Can Lee 'Hopalong' Morris not play on either wing thus providing competition for the 'Right Flanker' position ?

He can but I think Piper would be a useful addition, as well, as he can play up front not just out wide, and IMO I think he is a better player, I thought Morris can play out left, so it would provide cover on both flanks.

If he has no club lined up then offer him the opportunity to train with us etc and assess him from there!!

Having said that I doubt he would have agreed to a mutual termination if he didn't have something lined up.

Get him in.

As for the right flanker comment - more like a right wanker. :081: :081:

Would please the fans seeing a local boy come home, so could be a way for CL to start worming his way back into our good books!

Does no one remember the return of Steve Guppy?

A workmate of mine is great pals with the masters players.( Ramsey, Mauchlen, Spearing, Paris, Hebberd and the Birch). He told me through is connections that we could have had Matt Piper back here. Sunderland don't want to sell him because they still think he's got a future with them, but they offered him on loan for the rest of the season with them paying 75% and us 25%. But we turned it down.

I posted this in the rumours thread on the 4th of Jan. Certain people on here thought the opposite about him returning. IMO and in our situation i think he would have been worth a go.

It's by no means a definite good move. But if he's released he'll be fairly cheap and couldn't do much worse than Momo. Sign him till the end of the season say I.

Problem is, he is quite obviously knackered, otherwise Sunderland would not have let him go - Morris, off that treatment table now, we've got another croc on the way.:frown:
